Jason Garrett the betting favorite to be the first coach fired ( but is it fair to blame him ? )

When the owner is second-guessing the coach, you know the coach is on the hot seat.

So it’s no surprise, after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said coach Jason Garrett should have gone for it on fourth-and-1 in overtime on Sunday night, that Garrett is the odds-on favorite to be the first coach fired this season.

Garrett’s odds are +350 at BetDSI, which means a $100 bet on Garrett being the first coach fired would pay off at $350 if Garrett does get fired before any other coach, and before the end of the regular season.

There was a time when Garrett was considered the NFL’s hot young offensive mind, but that time is in the past. It now feels like the game has passed Garrett by, with the Cowboys’ offense looking outdated compared to that of younger coaches like Sean McVay. There are plenty of coaches older than Garrett having success, like Bill Belichick and Andy Reid, but those coaches seem more capable of innovating than Garrett is.

Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter is viewed as the second-most likely coach to get fired, at +500 odds. Texans coach Bill O’Brien and Broncos coach Vance Joseph are at +750, while Browns coach Hue Jackson is at +1000. The odds that no coach will be fired during the season are +400.

not like he has a lot to work with ... they have no WR's and they sure as hell miss having Witten around

He has made some bad decisions at certain times, but lets face it,his offensive lines have been horrible.Just look at Romo getting beat up all the time due to poor offensive lines, and the secondary became very poor also,so if you can't block, and your secondary can't defend, then i feel its not his fault as he puts on the field what Jones gives him

He's not the worst head coach, but he's not Bill Belicheck.

His offensive coordinator needs to go.

It would surprise me if he was. Jerry's and egomaniac, likes a "Yes" man, and likes to call most of the shots. He clearly couldn't work with people like Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells, who wouldn't put up with his nonsense. Even if he fired Garrett, he would simply put in another coach that was a "yes" man. I really wonder if the Cowboys will ever win a Superbowl in my lifetime.

I have seen every second of every Cowboys game and watch it twice each week. JG is terrible.

You need a girlfriend
what's the problem with me watching Cowboys games twice? (2nd time, the time is reduced because I can fast forward etc) I do not watch much TV outside of sports (show here and there, watched 1 or 2 Netflix series) so I still watch less than TV than most.

i think the cowboys win this weekend but then at washington before the bye week. if it doesnt happen then it wont happen til the season is over.
still got my vance joseph bet going and on a 3 game losing streak in denver.
rams, at cards, at chiefs, texans and then a bye week which is when it would happen if it does.
2-3 now but could very easily be 2-7 or 3-6

Dallas won't beat the Jags on Sunday.

8-8 will probably win that division

JJ would never fire him in season.
Throwing money away.
Also even if they go 6-10 they will be in the playoff hunt till at least week 14.

Many other better choices.

Maybe someone like vance in denver

"The Clapper" is a horrible coach. It's so hard for me to continue being a Cowboys fan.

Should have been gone long ago. Vanilla coach who plays not to lose instead of playing to win. Word around here is 50% chance he's gone if loss to Jax. 100 % gone loss to Jax and Wash before Bye.

Word around here, huh? LOL

Would that be like when someone says "my sources tell me" as though there's any credibility without naming a source. Do you work for the Cowboys organization?
