Is it time to give Alex Tanney a Shot, just to see if it's mostly Eli's fault ??

Not the answer to the Giants problems, but at this point 1-5, Why not ??

They waited until week 13 last season to bench Eli at 2-9, then thought they made a mistake and put him back in
Yes the O-Line is to blame as well .... But maybe with 11 days until the next game, they can give Tanney a shot.

Note he hasn't played a game since 2015, but maybe the team has given up on Manning, and maybe they will protect the back up.

Thoughts ?

If the Giants had even a decent backup I would make the move. But they have put themselves in a position where they have no real options at QB other than Eli. Very strange that they have not done more to ensure the transition to a new franchise QB. It's sad to see generational talents like Beckham be wasted.

There's a video going around from last night that shows Pat Shurmer screaming at Eli "throw the damn ball". It proves that it's not the playcalling or the gameplan thats the problem. It's Eli Manning. He can't push the ball downfield and he moves so horrifically bad you would think hes 50 years old. Every pass is a little dump off. I heard a stat this morning that said in the seven drives for the giants his longest pass was 5 yards through the air. The one time he tried to hit beckham deep he underthrew him.

I have been an Eli supporter for a long time because he's a two time champ and a class act. But this is just unwatchable at this point. Most of the blame rests on the giants organization.

At this point they should just keep playing Eli to guarantee that they'll get the #1 pick and whichever QB they like the most.

let someone else play qb so the blame can go back on the front office. the problem has been the o-line for sometime now. eagles ran right past that offensive line last night. eli isnt what he once was but cant have success when you have no time.

The thing about the NFL is the margin for error is so small that when QB's start to age it can appear that they've fallen off a cliff talent wise. Just look at his brother Peyton, in a span of about 14 months he went from being the best regular season QB in the NFL and throwing all those TD passes with the Broncos, to being arguably the worst QB in the NFL and the Broncos winning the Super Bowl in spite of how poorly he was playing the QB position.

Eli's going through that now, his talent level has slipped due to age. Brady and Brees both still have it, but once it slips it's drastic. This time next year if Brady and Brees are still playing we could be saying what the heck happened to them, they both suck. Well eventually age is going to catch up to them as well as it has caught up to Eli.

They do have a Rookie QB that they are high on, Kyle Lauletta out of Richmond.
They say he had a good summer... so who knows what draft picks they will take.

I'm sure their thinking was drafting a stud RB will help take pressure off the QB and help open things up for the passing game, then if that happens Eli can give us one or two more good seasons. Unfortunately they didn't factor in the fact that Eli's talent has fallen off a cliff and even he knows it. That 20+ yard pass down the left sideline to Beckham was a wounded duck, the guy has zero arm strength. Shurmur can yell all he wants about Eli pushing the ball down the field but Eli himself knows it will turn into an interception festival if he tries to do that too much. Thus the reason for the incredible high # of passes under 10 yards.
