So i booked a service to get three large trees done. Total cost for the three trees were $1150. I had won a $250 gift certificate at a charity event and the company had a 4.9 rating on almost 30 reviews. So when i called i told them i wanted to do it on a monday because I was off work. He informed me they were booked this coming monday (the 15th) so i said how about the next. We booked for 9am. Fast forward to today, I went to bed very late, almost 5am and woke up to the sound of work being done. I thought it was one of my neighbors and went back to sleep. woke up around noon to let the dog out and people are standing on my back deck working on my trees. I opened the door and talked to one of the guys, saying you a week early. He went around front to talk to the lead of their crew and I explained why i suprised to see him. Called and spoke to the original guy trying to figure out our miscommunication. It appears he took my next as the next day and not the next monday. Im annoyed at this point because they didnt ring the door bell or anything before they started as my dogs would go crazy and by this point, the job is almost done. They finish up the job, here about 5 hours total working on it. I have the gift certificate out and have been told they will call me in a couple days to do payment over the phone, and the crew leaves without saying a word to me after they clean up. No showing me their work, asking if i had any questions etc. So now the gift certificate is still just sitting on my counter. Im happy with the actual work they did, but completely confused by their customer service and interaction.

from my experiences with companies of this industry if they show up at all, do good work, and clean up you should be thrilled.

A little odd, but not shocking. I would prefer more communication, especially before they leave, but my tree jobs involve trimming back trees every few years. If they took down all three trees as agreed AND cleaned up to your satisfaction, give them a good review and move on.

All is good

$1150 for 3 large trees? That’s a steal of a deal, and $250 off that to boot. Think I’d just be happy and glad it’s said and done...

Now in my fifth year of selling tree service and concur that proper trimming of "3 big trees" for $1150 is likely within a fair price range. What are the species and how long since last professional trim?

I do know if either of the two operators I used were to fire up chainsaws at 530am in the neighborhoods to which I market, the homeowner or nearby neighbors would likely escort them off the premises at gunpoint :)
