Retired, undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather says a boxing match against undefeated UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is "happening," although he has not offered any further details.

Mayweather (50-0) retired from boxing in August 2017, immediately following a lucrative contest against UFC star Conor McGregor. His name has been linked to a comeback fight against Manny Pacquiao in recent months, however -- and now, a potential bout against Nurmagomedov.

"We're fighting," Mayweather told TMZ Sports. "I'm my own boss. I can't say what's going on on Khabib's end, but on my end we can make it happen."

When asked whether the fight would be a boxing or mixed martial arts contest, Mayweather answered directly.

"Who's the 'A-side?' He called me out so you have to come to my world," Mayweather said. "I seen in an interview, he said when he hit Conor McGregor, he knocked Conor McGregor down. He said I didn't knock Conor McGregor down. OK, Khabib. You got my leftovers. Whoop-dee-do."

Nurmagomedov (27-0) defended his lightweight championship against McGregor at UFC 229 on Oct. 6 in Las Vegas. He won the fight via fourth-round submission, and then exited the Octagon to confront McGregor's corner. The Nevada State Athletic Commission is still investigating the matter and is expected to fine and possibly suspend Nurmagomedov at a future disciplinary hearing.

The Dagestan native recently appeared alongside Mayweather's longtime advisor Leonard Ellerbe, in a video filmed in Russia. In the video, Nurmagomedov laughs and calls out Mayweather.

"Let's go Floyd, we have to fight now," Nurmagomedov said. "50-0 vs. 27-0, two guys who never lose. Let's go. Why not? Because in the jungle, there's only one king. Of course, I'm the king because he can not drop McGregor, but I drop him easily. Let's go."

According to Mayweather, 41, a fight against Nurmagomedov would produce a higher paycheck than the one he received to box McGregor last year. Mayweather won that fight by TKO in the 10th round.

"When I face Khabib, I'm getting a nine-figure payday," Mayweather said. "Yes, more than the McGregor fight. Probably $100 million more, guaranteed. It could be somewhere upwards of $110 to $200 million guaranteed."

Not happening. Khabib trolling Hypothetically, if it does, anyone who pays for it should be shot in the head

Would like to see Khabib against guys at 170. Get some real competition. Don't think anybody is beating him at 155 soon... though I'd like to see it.

Don't see how Mcg ever beats him. Will just lay on top of him and drain all his energy. Then he starts the 2nd round with about 50% of his energy stores left... and his reactions slowed and the zip in his punches is depleted. Then Khabib lays on him again adn again.... what chance is there for victory?

-400 odds on the day of the fight? Would have to pound Khabib for a guaranteed win.

I don’t see this selling at all. Could be a huge financial bust.

Id actually bet against it happening. Once the internals comeback they’re gonna realize there is no audience for this the way there was for McGregor.

McGregor atleast won 2 world titles in MMA with his hands and clearly knows how to sell a fight. He had no chance to win but he atleast was a brilliant marketer that could get people to atleast want to tune in to see what he would do. Would he do better than expected? Would he say fuck it and kick Floyd in the head? It had legitimate novelty to it. He had the talking heads going on and on about nonsensical BS about the fight like it was an NBA historical debate. Everyone was into it.

I just don't see Khabib being able to generate that type of interest at all. Floyd's last fight before McGregor bombed on PPV as well (Andre Berto)

There is no market for this. Connor was a supreme MMA striker who was the absolute best when it came to selling fights. Khabib isn't even really a striker, who the hell wants to see him in a boxing match. Not to mention he is a zero in the "selling" game.

Get the impression Floyd is desperate for another big payday or two. Just don't think it's gonna happen. Maybe if Rousey would still have been unbeaten that could have been his last big one. Unless someone new comes along real soon, as in the next couple years.

Even with all the money Floyd has made , even investing well. You can tell he lives a lavish lifestyle. He needs those paydays every couple years or he will not to become a little more frugal, relatively speaking.

Agree, that was something you could really only pull off once.

Maybe with McGregor again it would work but Khabib/Floyd would flop badly if it was pure boxing. No one wants to see that and it wouldn't even be great to bet, odds would be -2600.
