The Mega Millions jackpot on Saturday climbed to a staggering $1.6 billion after it was revealed that no winning ticket was sold in Friday night's drawing, making it the highest jackpot in Mega Millions history.

The winning numbers on Friday were: 15, 23, 53, 65, 70, and Mega Ball 7.

The next drawing will be on Tuesday. The estimated jackpot for that drawing would tie the largest lottery prize in U.S. history.

There has been no winning ticket since a group in California won on July 24. The group pulled in $543 million.

It costs $2 to play the game, but the odds of winning the jackpot aren't good. The chance of matching all six numbers and taking home the grand prize is one in 302.5 million.

Do they have to change the name to Mega Billions now for this jackpot?

It's funny that you have no chance to win this thing yet in your head you are spending the money and actually a little mad when you don't win lol

Stupid . Why not divide up that pot and pick 100 different combos for 100 different people ? Giving one shlep who probably cant pay his bills, 1.6 billion is ridiculous.

I agree. I think they were better off with more winners and smaller jackpots. Raising the odds to win by adding numbers wasn’t necessary...

People are soo stupid. The lottery would be better off paying out $10,000 jackpots to people. That would help so many people but people wouldn't play because they are lured in by the chance to win a huge jackpot.

Yes, $1.6 billion is crazy for one person to win.....like 10 people should split that.

In the mid 80's, a family in my town hit the Pa lotto for like $12 million, & that was huge back then, there were no jackpots over $50 million.....now they're hitting $1 billion, that's insane.

Yes to all and I would say bust this thing up to give out $10k in prizes (think that gives you 160,000 winners and I think most would be plenty happy about it).

I think it's a mathematical edge to play it now if you think you will be sole winner. Unfortunately the odds are this time there will be multiple winners based on the shear number of tickets sold by crazed people who buy tickets because it is now record amount.

Mathematically you have the same odds of winning whether you buy a ticket or not
