The hypocrisy in California just kills me

I'm glad to be out of the state but still have a vested interest in what Propositions pass in their elections (we are renting out our house there).

I do find it amusing when people constantly claim that good ol' Jerry Brown is so fiscally responsible and has this "budget surplus" on the one hand, and then on the other hand say the state needs money. Which is it? You can't have your cake and eat it too. It's funny to look at all these propositions (not just this one) and see the hypocrisy.

Proposition 1: Should the state borrow $4 billion to subsidize affordable housing?

Proposition 2: Should the state
borrow $2 billion to pay for housing for those with mental illness?

Proposition 3: Should the state borrow $8.9 billion to fund water projects?

Proposition 4: Should the state borrow $1.5 billion to improve children's hospitals?

If Jerry's got a surplus, then direct some of that money to this and stop shaking down taxpayers by running the state like a dictatorship and passing taxes without people voting on it (in regards to Prop 6...a gas tax Brown passed without voter approval).

Ultimately this is the problem with the mindset in California. It's always this mentality of throwing money at problems instead of solving them (i.e. Democratic mindset).

I’m still confused of the paper straw now being served to drink from styrofoam cups and red solo cups

Yeah, I'm pretty sold on going NO on all four of those propositions. I'm only considering the alternate option is on 2, but I likely will do a clean sweep. A lot of my friends think I'm nuts for doing that, or have accused of not being for the environment/children, etc. It's nuts.

What drives me nuts is that people will accuse you of being "against water", "against children's health" if you vote NO on these things, but I view it as the opposite. From the research I've done since moving here, it's clear to me that the state has a history of drawing up bills like this, passing them, then not delivering on their promises. So am I really helping the state solve these problems by checking YES on the ballot, only to see more wasted tax dollars on this kind of shit? Fuck that.
