The Oakland Raiders will trade wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys, a source told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Monday.

The Raiders will receive a first-round draft pick in exchange, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Oakland will now have three first-round picks in 2019 after also getting the Chicago Bears' selection in last month's Khalil Mack trade.

Cooper, 24, has just 22 catches for 280 yards and one touchdown in his first six games this season and is coming off a disappointing 2017 campaign, when he had 48 receptions for 680 yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games.

But Cooper, the fourth overall pick in the 2015 draft, was a Pro Bowler in each of his first two seasons with the Raiders, eclipsing 1,000 receiving yards both years.

Cooper is in the NFL's concussion protocol after suffering the injury last week in Oakland's loss to Seattle in London.

This is not the first time that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has dealt for a receiver before the league's trade deadline. In 2008, Dallas traded first-, third-, sixth- and seventh-round picks to the Detroit Lions for wide receiver Roy Williams in a move that did not work out.

But the 3-4 Cowboys have been so lacking at wide receiver this season that they were willing to give up their top pick in next year's draft to acquire Cooper. Dallas ranks 29th in the league with an average of 202.4 receiving yards per game.

Absolute steal for the Raiders.

He's owed 14+ mil next year then he's a FA. Trust me, he's not worth the money. He's not a bum, but he's not elite either. Getting a 1st rd pick is unbelievable.

I agree Biz, this is the same Jerry Jones that didn't want to give up a 1 for a proven commodity in Earl Thomas.

The Raiders have got one over on the Cowboys with this one, I'd say a 3 or 4 would have been a good deal for the Cowboys.

Eagles offered a #2. Oak declined. Oak had #1 stamped off the bat. Skins and colts were about to offer. Cowboys had to jump. Wr class this year not that deep in draft. Cooper is 22,...big and fast (faster than dez). Dallas been stellar years past in drafting so not worried at all. 22 dropped passes since 2015 but I'm sure that will improve. It's not an awful move by Dallas that everyone is making it out to be. More out of simply hating the cowboys than anything else for the most part. All these peeps on social media claiming "I would of only given up a #2 or #3" bahahaha just stop. Oak was never prepared to accept that from the getgo. Skins and Colts were about to offer. Great to give up a #1? When is it really is? Mack a rare example where it's worth it. Imo it's a move they HAD to make. Money no concern either as they have plenty now to spend in near future.

Its Linehan. They are cuffing dak. No zone reads, no rollouts, no pa's basically. He gets comfortable and gets better the more he uses his legs.

Hes def not a "such a below avg qb". That would be a nathan Peterson. No comparison. Dak is avg with upside potential. Mid tier qb.

Coop should do good with Cowboys. Only 24. Cowboys would use that pick for a receiver anyway

Cooper's ledger includes good and bad stats, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
The good:

  • He's catching 73 percent of his targets this season.
  • In the two games during which he was targeted at least 10 times, he had at least 100 yards receiving.
  • He has been used inside and outside with 31 percent of his routes coming from the slot.
The bad:

  • He has been targeted on only 15 percent of his routes this season, which is the fourth-fewest for receivers with a minimum of 30 targets. He has had just two targets on 28 routes in his past two games.
  • His 22 career drops are third-most since he entered the league in 2015.
  • He has only six targets of 15-plus yards this season, which is tied for 83rd in the league.
