[h=1]Senate Slipping Away as Dems Fight to Preserve Blue Wave[/h]
NEW YORK (AP) — In the closing stretch of the 2018 campaign, the question is no longer the size of the Democratic wave. It's whether there will be a wave at all.

Top operatives in both political parties concede that Democrats' narrow path to the Senate majority has essentially disappeared, a casualty of surging Republican enthusiasm across GOP strongholds. At the same time, leading Democrats now fear the battle for the House majority will be decided by just a handful of seats.

I will be voting for Rick Scott but Nelson appears to have a lead - pretty sure the Republicans keep and gain seats in the Senate but may lose a majority in the House - hopefully fake news is lying again

You think Gillum wins? I know it is hard to say with so much misinformation out there.

The Democrats will get a relative wave in this election, but it won't be enough to take control of the Senate. The map was too tough for the Democrats to do that anyway. They're playing defense in 26/35 Senate races.

Historically, a "wave election" generally correlates to a 7-9% popular vote victory across the nation's races, and I think the Democrats will likely get something like that. The problem is the map is so advantageous for Republicans, that Democrats probably need to win the popular vote nationally by 10-11% to have a shot to take the Senate.

I expect a 51-49 or 52-48 Senate edge for Republicans. I think we are looking at a Democratic House and Republican Senate, which I think constitutes a so-so day for both parties. The Democrats get a piece of control, but the Republicans retain the more powerful chamber.

if that polling is accurate, and I have no reason to trust early polling data, that's a huge break from the norm and not the story we're being told by the parrots

He's only like 63% on PredictIt and other betting sites. So DeSantis still very live.

I can barely stomach following politics for more than a day or two at a time at this point so I miss a lot of the news on these races, but his ascendance has been underreported IMO (perhaps intentionally) so it definitely caught my eye.

The 3rd most populous state just gonna elect a quasi-socialist governor. That's a much bigger story than 1 winning some +25 Dem district in NY.

I agree with this sentiment. And DeSantis is a good candidate too. I'll be stunned if he loses and conservatives everywhere should be too.

I haven't voted straight republican since 2000 ... that ends in 12 days

my guess is that many libertarians like me believe the dems have completely lost the plot and have to vote straight red to keep them away from holding as many local or national seats as possible. i can worry about how closely my beliefs are aligned to republicans in another election
