The Minnesota Twins have hired Rocco Baldelli as their next manager, the team announced Thursday.
Baldelli has spent the past four seasons as a coach for the Tampa Bay Rays and was a special assistant in the front office for four seasons before that. At 37, he will become the youngest manager in the majors.
A news conference to introduce Baldelli is expected Thursday.
Baldelli played seven seasons in the majors from 2003 to 2010, including six with the Rays. He also spent one season with the Boston Red Sox.
He replaces Paul Molitor, who was 305-343 in four seasons as manager with one playoff appearance. Minnesota went 78-84 in 2018, finishing second in the American League Central but 13 games behind the Cleveland Indians.

Does he speak English?

If he doesn't, I could sure use a pizza tonight. Does his restaurant deliver?

What did he have to deal with as a player? A $200,000/month paycheck? Plus all summers off and still getting the 200K a month?

He started his mlb career with 2 or 3 really good seasons, then he came up with some strange condition where he got tired real easily. Had to retire when he was in his 20s.

Wonder why they fired Molitor? The assholes like losing, as soon as somebody becomes decent they trade him for prospects and then trade those prospects for new prospects

They're nothing more than a farm system for other teams

That's interesting, all jokes aside.

Throwing a joke in, however, I see about 90% of MLB players have this "tired syndrome" on the field and are lazy as fuck... especially when running to first.

Best record in MLB

<article class="article-body p402_premium resizeFont" style="font-size: 16px; box-sizing: border-box; margin-bottom: 2.75rem; caret-color: rgb(51, 49, 35); color: rgb(51, 49, 35); font-family: Cambria, Georgia, serif; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">The Twins own the best record in baseball, and it’s no longer possible to argue that an easy schedule is the reason.
Jason Castro homered, doubled and drove in four runs, Byron Buxton tripled home a run and made another spectacular running catch, and Jose Berrios seemed to work his way into and out of trouble on a whim. It all added up to an 8-2 victory over the AL West-leading Houston Astros in Target Field on Thursday, and an impressive victory in the season series against a true pennant contender.

EZ schedule down the stretch

How easy is an easy schedule for the Minnesota Twins? At least 23 of their final 41 games are against Kansas City, Detroit, or the Chicago White Sox. Those tree teams combined for 226 losses… so far. The Tigers are 35.5 games behind the Twins and barely playing .305 ball.
The Twins have three more games against the Texas Rangers, who are barely a .500 team. They have to play the Red Sox in Boston at Fenway in a couple of weeks, but the defending champion Sox are dunzo.

I loved this guy as a player but he is a HORRIBLE manager. Absolutely blows big decisions whether it be sac bunts, changing pitchers etc. This is a huge downer for Twins bettors and something to consider before placing your money on them.
