Mahoning Valley 10-30-2018
Last post at GPW turned a small profit but was a huge disappointment ... after pegging the first 2, I thought we'd steamroll thru the card for a big day. Not so. I will be looking forward to playing that track again very soon!
Today we slither up to Mahoning. One of the toughest tracks with some of the slipperiest slimeballs around. They started the "double-check-the-tattoo-of-that-winner" practice thanks to a couple of Spiess switch-a-roo mega-priced horses a few years back.
race #1 - 6f
... first race might set the tone for the day
#2 3-1 AL'S BRIDE
#6 5-2 PAPPIAS PLEASURE - turn moves do well at this track
#1 8-5 ROSES FOR SHARON - heavy fav was easy winner in debut, adds distance, weight, and stiffer pace .... we shall see
race #2 - 5.5f
#3 8-1 MADE IN HER IMAGE - strictly a hunch play ... not even sure why
#5 2-1 MIDNIGHT STROLLYNN - figures to clear off by a million lengths and coast home, should be well bet
#4 7-2 LANTANA MOLL - long layoff 3yo can't possibly be as bad as works indicate
race #3 - 8f
... 2yo MSW
#1 8-1 THAT'S MY POINT - might be shooting myself in the foot ... firster in a 2-turn race, say what?!
#6 6-1 KING OLLIE - huge improvement in last
#5 4-1 AWESOMERADICALDUDE - The Good: good distance pedigree and Chapman is 42% at MVR, The Bad: blew chalk at MNR in last and scratched from 10k claimer Friday
#4 5-2 BABESWILDWEEKEND - jock+ ... logical
race #4 - 6f
#3 7-2 BRETT PARK - another layoff horse .... this could be a long day
#5 3-1 TOWN CLASSIC - ships in for a confidence booster
#6 9-2 QUALIFLY
race #5 - 8f
... there are a couple "horse for course" types in here but fav needs to not show up.
#7 2-1 GATEWAY ARCH - logical
#5 15-1 HOARDER - mild bomb alert
#9 7-2 COTTONWOOD CANYON - horse4course
#2 6-1 DONTBOTHERMENOW - can't drop far back or will be done. PEN jock Tunon is 1/1 at MVR but that was a 19-1 frontrunner
... rest to follow shortly ...
