The season begins with a nice two game card at in Indy and on ESPN: #10 MSU vs. #1 KAN (-5.5) followed by #3 Duke vs. #2 KTY (-1.5). I noticed CNOTES put together a nice "cliff's notes" thread on many of the teams heading into the season. Must have been a lot of work and it's great when some of the RX'ers provide information he has mentioned.
Personally, I am an action junkie and normally bet way to many games and start betting much sooner than I should. I do not bet a lot since it is mostly for the added entertainment factor. But it is still better to be a winner than loser no matter how much money is at stake. So I usually start out a loser and end up working the rest of the season learning more about the teams and trying to get back into the plus column. Normally, this works for me. I subscribe to KENPOM and it is a help but they will even tell you they get more accurate as the season progresses. Right now they have KAN beating MSU 79-72 and Duke beating KTY 78-77.
It would be nice if we could get a daily, weekly or even monthly thread started on some of the major games for each day with anyone contributing that has valuable information on those games. While many can find value in the games involving teams from the smaller conferences, I ignore them --- just to many teams for me to consider and I never do well with them -- for example the MAAC has always been a killer for me, I would get better results on those teams by just throwing darts at the two teams playing.
For tomorrow I will probably be on KAN and Duke primarily because of the information mentioned in CNOTES thread (he didn't discuss KAN). Plus, I have noticed that over the years it seems Izzo seems to use early season games to learn exactly what adjustments he needs to perform to his team for the more meaningful conference games. It seems Calipari has the same kind of thinking.
