Commence the do-nothing government

Midterm results have assured that the next two years in Washington will be nothing but a dog-and-pony show where we'll pay all these windbags to do absolutely nothing.

The GOP widened their gap in the Senate which has closed to assure they will hold it in 2020 (10-15% chance the Dems can win there) so the Senate will spend two years doing two things
1) rejecting liberal spending bills
2) appointing judges by the boatload and, possibly, getting a shot at confirming another SC judge or two (Ginsberg, Breyer both in 80's)

The DEM house majority means they will be focused on 2 things:
1) disparaging the president with every negative "-ist" term possible and getting people to further question his character with rabbit hole chasing of his tax records and Russian collusion with the nearly impossible end-goal of impeachment
2) fighting for every budget dollar possible to truly root Obamacare so they can take a run at Medicare the next time they have full govt control. Trump's promises of repealing Obamacare are over and his infrastructure program (the wall, roads, bridges, highways) is absolutely dead unless he wants to build a bunch of gender-neutral bathrooms...I'm sure the DEMs would get behind that. But, Trump has done what he wanted to do economically so will now just put through spending ideas for the libs to slap back. aka, a do-nothing House

So today begins 2-6 years of a government that will do absolutely nothing other than engage in partisan labeling. Interesting to see how the DEMs move forward since 3 of their 4 most radical house candidates lost with only the un-loseable 14th district seat in NY State coming through (which was never in question yet the big mouth lost 5% of the votes that Crowley had in 2016).

With Pelosi immediately pushing last night away from radical ideas and looking for common ground this will be several years of very boring politics which is exactly what we need. The economy is rolling so let the House play around with our money while the Senate keeps appointing judges. I'm cool with that Soumi

I love gridlock, have said that many times around here. I don't want politicians passing new legislation, that only fucks us up

I want low taxes, fewer regulations, and a federal government that essentially stays out of the way. National security, a postal service and some infrastructure, that's all I want out of DC

only problem with gridlock is that with all these clowns doing nothing it gives super-radical ideas a platform (aka Ocasio) and the party of hate and labels will have a field day in front of the mics for the next 24 months talking about tax returns, collusion, and impeachment. If you thought the libs talked negatively about Trump to the press you ain't seen nothing yet. of course we all know it will go nowhere but they need to act like they're earning their salaries

totally agree that we're in a great position to see no meaningful legislation moved through Washington and that can only be a good thing. the only true meaningful movement in washington in the next couple of years could occur on the SC bench....

Political segregation now. Cut the country in half and let the loons have their place. Build and wall and commit to borders. When they destroy their half with their hippie utopia they think works, show them a wall and border really works

Most of the Blue states send in way more money than get back. Red states not so much.

at least the new no-nothings brought a little fun to the White House press conference

apparently CNN reporters shoving women off just to hold onto a mic is a way for libs to play it cool.

that whole party is coming unglued :)

Do-Nothing government is fine in theory. The problem is needing large majorities in order to undo the messes left behind by Democrats the last time they had significant power.

Obamacare is still law, so how does gridlock get rid of it?

Haha Haha, the piss poor, crime invested, least educated communities that give the Democrats whatever political power they have with their 95/5 vote send absolutely NOTHING to DC. It's a one way street.

Working Americans and suburbanites that make up the GOP, different story.

As with everything in life, you're assbackwards

Genetics people, more of that mutant gene syndrome

Stick to throwing bricks and attacking families, it's the only stuff you're good at

Why do you think Democrats are the party of "free stuff people"? Because they're the taxpayers? Too fucking funny
