Five SEC coaches must be shaking in their boots if they have a bonus riding
on this weekend's games.

Alabama -51 vs. The Citadel
Georgia -44 vs UMass
LSU -43.5 vs Rice
Florida -40 vs Idaho
S. Carolina -30 vs Chattanooga

I'd be worried against these powerhouse opponents.

*It is being reported Colorado will fire coach Mike MacIntire at the end of the season. If
MacIntire is dismissed, he will leave with a $10 million buyout.

*Western Kentucky (1-9) will fire coach Mike Stanford if he loses the final two games.
(UTEP and Louisiana Tech) Man, talk about pressure.

*Kansas has talked to Les Miles about the coaching vacancy but now the attention is
on former Arizona State coach Todd Graham.

Bad move. I think they'll regret it.

Speculation on my part. Coaches who will be fired at the end of the season.

Larry Fedora (North Carolina) Just three seasons ago Fedora led the Heels to a
11-3 record. He's now looking at 2-10 for 2018.

Chris Ash (Rutgers) After going 2-10, 4-8 and probably 1-11 this season, Ash
gets his moving papers.

Clay Helton (USC) If the Trojans lose to UCLA and Notre Dame, AD Lynn Swann
will look to the NFL for a new coach.

Derek Mason (Vanderbilt) Now that the Doors have a new AD, and a 1-7 SEC record,
Mason finally gets the hook.

More speculation: Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley leaves the Sooners to take over the NFL's
Cleveland Browns.

Troy's Neil Brown will become the target of the Louisville Cardinals. If not Louisville,
Brown will be a hot commodity for schools looking for a new coach.

Will Mike Leach be coaching Washington State next season? He's just a phone call
away North Carolina.

App State’s Scott Satterfield has a new and more prestigious job if he wants it, so does Wake’s Dave Clawson, but they both love their current Universities so much, will they actually “take the money and run...?”

I like the way you think brother. I'd love to have Leach, but it will never happen at such a PC obsessed school like UNC. I just hope there's an opening. That $14 million buyout for Fedora is a big obstacle.

Good stuff, Cloverleaf!
Lots of opportunities this time of year, bet against a lame duck coach or against a team where the coach is already ousted.
Also when some teams clinch a bowl and cannot do any better with a win, they let up next game, especially on the road.
Go against a team that will be playing in a conference championship but has to play a rival on the road first... though not teams that have a realistic chance at national playoffs.
You see a team suddenly lose by 30... and the next day you hear the coach is a goner. The kids knew. Wish I had...
These do not work every time, have to assess the entire situation each game...

Mike Leach is a little different than your average traditional coach but he wins. He probably does more with less talented
players than any coach out there. I love the guy.

There have been four FBS coaching changes so far. Bowling Green's Mike Jinks, Kansas' David Beaty,
Louisville's Bobby Petrino and Maryland's DJ Durkin have been fired. More to come for sure. Here's
the number of changes the past seven years: 22 (2008), 23 (2009), 24 (2010), 28 (2011), 31 (2012),
20 (2013), 15 (2014), 29 (2015), 21 (2016), 21 (2017).

Bovada released its first set of odds on Bobby Petrino's replacement at Louisville. Purdue's Jeff Brohm (1/10),
Troy's Neal Brown (4/1), Ohio State OC Ryan Day (9/2), Clemson DC Brent Venables (9/1), Cincinnati Luke
Fickell (11/1), Syracuse's Dino Babers (12/1), App State's Scott Satterfield (16/1) and Toledo's Jason Candle
(16/1).

Western Michigan fired DC Tim Daoust after loss to Ball State. The Broncos gave up 51, 59 and 42 points in
three straight losses that knocked them out of the MAC's West Division race.

USC: After practice yesterday, Clay Helton addressed rumors about his job security with the Trojans. "My
plan is to be here another 15 years. I'd like to do it until I'm 60 right here. That's my plan, and I feel very
secure in where I'm at."

Sidenote: USC and UCLA have a combined 13 losses entering this season's crosstown rivalry game, the
most ever in its 88 year history.

Purdue's Jeff Brohm ($90,000), Minnesota's PJ Fleck ($75,000), Missouri's Barry Odom ($25,000) and
Alabama's Nick Saban ($100,000) pocketed bonuses for reaching APR benchmarks. (NCAA Graduation

Les Miles signs a 5 year contract to coach Kansas that will pay him $2,775,000 annually
with retention bonuses of $775,000 due November 2020 and $500,000 in November 2022.
Miles contract is laden with incentives including $1,000,000 for reaching the national title
game. Miles (65) agreed to a lump sum of $1.5 million of the remaining $6.5 million he
was owed by LSU. His record with the Tigers was 114-34 and a national championship.

Colorado has fired coach Mike MacIntyre after losing to Utah Saturday. The loss was the
sixth straight for the Buffalos. MacIntyre is owed $10.3 buyout money.

Southern Cal's Clay Helton's seat just got hotter after losing to UCLA Saturday. Notre Dame
is next. Remember this name: Jack Del Rio.

Iowa's Kirk Ferentz's seventh win of the season means another year his contract goes from
50% guaranteed to 100% guaranteed and his assistant coaches salary pool will increase by
8 percent.

North Texas coach Seth Littrell secured a bonus of $20,000 for winning eight games, and
the final two years of his contract have gone from 75% guaranteed to 100% guaranteed.

Larry Fedora (North Carolina) has a $10.3 million buyout.

Pretty boy Kiff Kingsbury (Texas Tech) has a $4.2 million buyout. Never liked the guy and
hope he's sent packing.

Congrats to Army coach Jeff Monken and his Black Knights who are ranked AP #23 this week.
This is Army's first top-25 ranking since 1996. From 1963-2017, the Cadets have appeared in
the Top-25 twice. I knew after the early season overtime loss to Oklahoma that this team would
be good. Great job Coach Monken!

Part of the issue with MacIntyre is that he had some off field issues with his staff as one of the members had a domestic assault/abuse charge that MacIntyre knew about and apparently wasn't honest with the school administrators about it. He was disciplined. I agree with you that it would be a bad move for the school. But I think they are looking at Matt Wells (Utah St) or Eric Bienemy (OC for KC Chiefs).

Dude gonna get paid big time. Not only is he a quality coach, but he built, then rebuilt that program.

I agree UAB should try to keep him but if a big school ($$) comes calling, UAB is dead in the water.

UMass will part ways with coach Mark Whipple soon. Whipple has compiled a 16-44
record from 2014-2018 with Minutemen.

Including UMass, there are seven openings for head coach at the FBS level: Bowling
Green, Colorado, Charlotte, Louisville, Maryland and Texas State round out the list.

I believe Jeff Brohm will leave Purdue for Louisville where he played and coach. No
inside info but just makes sense. If Brohm leaves, Purdue officials are ready as they
have compiled a list to replace him.

Neal Brown, Troy
Butch Jones, ex-Tennessee
Skip Holtz, Louisiana Tech
Matt Canada, Maryland
Tony Elliott, Clemson
Mike Norvell, Memphis

Good looking list and nice to see Purdue being proactive.

Broyles Award: List of 15 semifinalist for the nation's top assistant coach. Five
finalist will be announced December 2nd. Winner will be announced Dec. 4th.

David Reeves, UAB, DC
Mike Locksley, Ala, OC
Jay Bateman, Army, DC
Tim DeRuyter, Cal, DC
Glen Elarbee, UCF, OL coach
Jeff Scott, Clem, co OC
Sam Pittman, GA, OL coach
Dave Amanda, LSU, DC
Don Brown, Mich, DC
Bob Shoop, MS St, DC
Chip Long, ND, OC
Bill Bendenbaugh, Ok, DL coach
David Yost, Utah St, OC
Travis Clacys, Wash St, DC
Jake Sparital, W.Va, OC

My guess would be Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown. (just a guess)
