The Giants are appearing on Monday night football for the second time in four weeks after scoring a late touchdown to grab the backdoor at Atlanta in Week 7. New York owns a 2-6 record in its past eight appearances on Mondays dating back to 2014, as its last road win in this spot came at Miami in 2015.

San Francisco is also playing a Monday nighter for the second time in 2018, as the 49ers blew a late lead in a three-point loss at Green Bay in Week 6. Amazingly the 49ers have covered in 12 of 13 times on Monday night dating back to 2008, but this is the first time they are favored since pulling off a 14-point victory at St. Louis in 2014.

Insights from Jeff Stoneback, director of trading for MGM Resorts sportsbooks, and John Sheeran, risk manager for FanDuel Sportsbook at the Meadowlands in New Jersey.

“We need the Giants for a pretty decent decision,” Stoneback said. “That’s basically because we took a bet close to six figures on the 49ers during the week. Throw that bet out and we’re pretty even. Pointspread ticket count is about 3/2 and money is 4/1 on the 49ers, but again, a lot of that is one bet.”

That one large wager didn’t move the line off Niners -3, but MGM books did adjust the price to -125, where they’ve been since Thursday.I

FanDuel Sportsbook opened San Francisco -2 and like MGM books was at -3 (-125) this afternoon.

“We want to be aggressive with New York, which is at +3 (+110),” Sheeran said. “We’re currently seeing 70 percent of the action on the Giants. The moneyline is Giants +155, and we’re seeing more than 80 percent of action on New York.”

With FanDuel’s shop right in the midst of Giants country, Sheeran said there’s also significant interest in the proposition bet of Barkley to score the first touchdown, at +500.

On the total, MGM books opened 43.5 and peaked at 45.5, before dipping a tick to 45 earlier today.

“We need the Under for a little bit,” Stoneback said, while noting that even if the Niners cover and the total goes Over, it’s been a great NFL weekend for MGM books. “It does make it a lot easier on Monday when you don’t get beat up on Sunday. We don’t have all that parlay liability rolling over to tonight.”

FanDuel also opened the total at 43.5 and was at 45 this afternoon, with 85 percent of action on the Over.
