The Minister of Public Security, Michael Soto, was able to arrange during a recent work trip to China a donation by this Government of almost $5.5 million in favor of Costa Rica to be invested in security.
In a bilateral meeting with he Chinese Minister of Defense, Xu Qiliana, Soto was able to discuss this and other future donations “specially related to everything that has to do with the monitoring center we are exploring”, said Soto.

“It is important to state that a Chinese technical team will be visiting the country in December with the purpose of running all their estimations and other aspects related to communication to try and materialize the delivery of equipment in the first semester of 2019”, stated Minister Soto in a press conference held this Tuesday.
China has made donations to contribute with Costa Rica’s security in the past, for instance their donations help build the National Police School Campus in Limon which actually celebrated today its first year in operations with the graduation of 114 new police inspectors.
Costa Rica also signed back in September this year their participation in China’s “New Silk Route” project, an initiative to increase trade, cooperation and financial support which has been signed by 103 countries and international organizations.
