A Boat in the Costa Rican Caribbean was Intercepted With Over 20 Million USD in Cocaine

A boat carrying cocaine was intercepted this Sunday November 11th this time, in waters of the Costa Rican Caribbean. The work was the result of a joint collaboration between national Coast Guard Service and the USA Coast Guard Service.
The situation took place 9 miles from Moín, Limón when during the evening hours of Saturday the authorities detected a suspicious vessel which they approached, the boat immediately sped off and the police chased after it, the vessel eventually ran aground and the suspects then decided to escape by running toward the mountains.

Agents of the National Coast Guard Service as well as members of the Public Police Force and Air Surveillance continued with the operation to try to capture the suspects.
In the boat inspection, the authorities found 18 packets containing a total 550 kilograms of cocaine, in addition to 6 containers with fuel.
This weekend, Costa Rican authorities also intercepted two vessels in the Costa Rican Pacific carrying over 1 ton of cocaine.
