[h=1]Darts: 'Fart-gate' explodes at Grand Slam of Darts between Gary Anderson and Wesley Harms[/h]
There have been many controversies in sports over the years including 'deflate-gate' and 'sandpaper-gate', but now it is fart-gate which is making headlines.
The incident took place during a match at the Professional Darts Corporation's (PDC) Grand Slam of Darts this week between two-time world champion Gary Anderson and his Dutch opponent Wesley Harms on Friday (NZ time) at the Aldersley Leisure Village venue in Wolverhampton.
Scotsman Anderson won the round-of-16 match 10-2, and Harms - who trailed 3-2 at the first break - said afterwards he was affected by a smell when play resumed.
"It'll take me two nights to lose this smell from my nose," Harms told Dutch television station RTL7L.

"Every time I walked past there was a waft of rotten eggs, so that's why I was thinking it was him. It was bad. It was a stink, then he started to play better, and I thought he must have needed to get some wind out.
"If somebody has done that they need to see a doctor. Seemingly he says it was me, but I would admit it."
World number four Anderson let rip when heard that he'd been accused of accused of creating the "fragrant smell" when RTL7L interviewed him.
"You can put your finger up my arse, there'll be no smell there," Anderson said.
"There was a stink, I thought it was him. Then he started playing better and I thought he must have needed to get some wind out.
"If I'd farted and it smelled like that I'd put my hands up and say: 'Sorry, I need to go off.'
"[The smell] was table-side. It was eggs, rotten eggs. Every time you walked past there was a waft of rotten eggs."
PDC chairman Barry Hearn thought the incident was hilarious when asked about it by the BBC.
"We've got to get to the bottom of this," he said.
"On a slightly more serious note, this is a top-level competition involving highly skilled sportsmen - so we have no intention of renaming the event the 'Grand Slam of Farts' as some have suggested.
"These are elite players and we feel that would be inappropriate."
Anderson is in action on Sunday when he faces Michael Unterbuchner for a spot in the semi-finals.
