Two back to back wins in friendly matches relive the hope of Costa Rican soccer fans. The male National Soccer Team defeated its equivalent of Peru 3-2 in a friendly soccer match that took place in that South American country. It had been 62 years since the Ticos beat the Incas.
During the first half of the game Costa Rica had problems finding the right game formula, the pieces were still in the process of adjusting to the right game rhythm.
Peru opened the score at minute 19’ with a goal by Edison Flores; it was not until minute 41’ when Costa Rica was able to tie the score with a goal by Jonathan McDonald.

The second half came around and “La Sele” displayed more confidence and security in its attack; the second goal was the work of Allan Cruz at minute 54’
Peru tied the score almost twenty minutes later, and very shortly after, at minute 77 the third goal for the Ticos came from Joel Campbell.
With a different line up and game plan the national soccer team showed a very different face from the one that it had been showing throughout this year.
La Sele will have its next game against the United States on February 2 and at that point the team will be under the direction of the new head coach Gustavo Matosas.
