Just over 1 minute left in the 1st half, Redskins have a 3rd and 7 at midfield, and the Eagles call a timeout to try and get the ball back

Fucking stupid

I'm thinking Peterson was thinking about calling a timeout on 2nd and 17, then didn't realize he didn't want the timeout after the Skins picked up 10 yards

I think Tomlin is the king of this shit. He put a linebacker on Keenan Allen the whole game last night and usually has 1 dumb challenge a game.

It's the right move. With over 1:20 secs left and timeouts left. The Skins have all the time they need to score. They just need to make plays, they have plenty of time.

Peterson is calling his timeouts in case they can get the Skins 3 and out his team will have a chance to score by saving some time.

If the Skins get a first down then Peterson wasted timeouts that would have gone to waste anyway, any time he saved the SKins on offense doesn't really matter as the Skins had plenty of time to begin with.

Nothing to lose and can only gain by calling those timeouts.

Dolphins did that as well in the first half against the bills.

34 seconds left in the half, buf has 1st down at own 12
1st and 10, buf with a 7 yd rush. Fins call timeout with 27 seconds left
2nd and 3, mccoy gains 1 yard. Fins call timeout with 22 seconds left
Buf picks up the first down with 17 conds left and they are on own 27 with 17 seconds left (on ensuing 1st down, bills false start)

then things get interesting...

Shady runs for 18 and gets out of bounds
Then on Buf's 40 yd line, a 19 reception to Miami's 41 yard line with 5 seconds left.

Buf got picked in the end zone on last play of the half.

Luckily nothing happened but this game could have EASILY gone into halftime without the fins sweating it out!!

SO easy to coach from in front of a TV with a beer in your hand.................

i feel the same way tho.......
a few pet peeves
Why even take a time out. before 5 or so mins left in the half /or game .....No sense.. SAVE THEM FOR CRUNCH TIME

Also Always Kick a FG -instead of going for TD on fourth down on the 1st few drives of the game ............ You need that 3 points in the 4th quarter many times!!

Now I'll elaborate

3rd and 7, midfield, 1:20 left. With Sanchez in at QB, the Skins are NOT scoring quickly as they're playing the underneath game, especially with the Eagles pass rush Monday night. Furthermore, the Skins did not call timeout because they probably wanted some time to click off the clock themselves (to ascertain the Eagles did not have time to score)

By calling timeout, you guaranteed the Skins were going to play more aggressively on third down, and gave them time to discuss it. You also left them with more time to improve their field position and maybe even try for a TD. What was the upside? You get the ball with 1 minute left on your own 10 and 1 timeout maximum.

By calling timeout, he increased the likelihood of the Skins getting more points than the likelihood the Eagles would.

I get that Pederson likes to be aggressive, butt it's NOT always the smart move. Especially with your own team also struggling on offense.
