What's the old saying? "Coaches get hired to be fired." And some just go away.

New Hires:
Mack Brown, North Carolina, good hire in my opinion
Les Miles, Kansas, tough program to win
Scott Satterfield, Louisville, 51-24 at App State
Jim McElwain, Central Michigan, ex-Florida coach
Mike Houston, East Carolina, 37-6 at James Madison
Walt Bell, UMass, OC at Florida State
Matt Wells, Texas Tech, .564 winning percentage at Utah State
Tyson Helton, Western Kentucky, coached at WK before
Scott Loeffler, Bowling Green, Auburn fans remember him
Jake Spavital, Texas State, must recruit good players

Mike Locksley, Bama OC, should be announced as new Maryland HC this week. Locksley is from DC area with ties to MD program

Mel Tucker, UGA OC (ex Bama Dbacks coach), expected to be announced as HC of Colorado this week

Pete Golding, Bama co-DC, likely to take the Ole Miss DC job this week and perhaps bring Bama RB coach, Joe Pannunzio, with him. Golding's wife went to Ole Miss and he coached at Delta State which is 90 miles from Oxford, MS but he's asking Ole Miss to triple his pay (currently $685k) which might be too rich for their blood

Auburn OC, Chip Lindsley, hired by Kansas in same position under Les Miles once he crawls out from under the bus that Gus threw him under

rumors swirling about Matt Canada to Louisville, Lane Kiffin to Georgia Tech

Thanks RT...…….I've heard that Malzahn would like to bring in Hugh Freeze as offensive coordinator.

According to an Atlanta radio sports station, LA Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt has been offered
the Georgia Tech job and has been given 48 hours to make a decision. If he turns down the job,
GT will probably go after Clemson OC Tony Elliott or Temple's Geoff Collins.

Tech officials, not that you give a rat's ass, my recommendation would be Neil Brown (Troy).

I've been told Golding turned down Ole Miss and Oklahoma today ... Ole Miss expected to counter with >$$. stay tuned

Mike Locksley (Bama OC) has won the Broyles Award as the nation's top assistant.

Kliff Kingsbury (ex-Texas Tech) will be USC's new OC.

New Ohio State coach Ryan Day will have a 5 year contract that pays $4.5 million per season.

Bama's Pete Golding a hot commodity with Ok and OM wanting him. I'm thinking Saban might
want to keep him.

I agree with Brown to Tech, especially before Tony Elliott. He’ll be a terrible HC, imo.

The Scott Satterfield job at Louisville is interesting. Already knew he was getting a call at seasons end. I guess he can recruit players he’s already recruiting in the South by bringing them home to ACC Country to play, and at a bigger program, which should allow him to hopefully snag up a few highly touted recruits. He’s a great guy, and I hope he does well. The job he left is a pretty good one to me too...

Good info.
Much appreciated!
OCs leaving can really mess up a team.
Last yr Missouri OC left along with another O assistant and nobody left had called offensive plays all year. They were a clusterschtook in their bowl game.
SMU same thing they were horrible.

As expected, Alabama OC Mike Locksley will be named Maryland's new head football coach.
Seems every year Bama loses a coordinator during the playoffs.

John L. Smith. Remember him Arkansas fans. He has been fired by Kentucky State after
three seasons. Smith served as head coach for the Razorbacks one season.

Charlotte has announced Will Healy as its new football coach. Healy has been head man
at Austin Peay the past 3 seasons.

Former Clemson starting quarterback Kelly Bryant will transfer to Missouri and play for
the Tigers next year. Many thought he would land at Auburn.

Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham will forgo his final season for the NFL draft. Bad
for him...good for Auburn.

Eight strength coaches now make over $500,000 annually.

Chris Doyle - Iowa - $725,000
Craig Fitzgerald - Tennessee - $625,000
Mickey Marotti - Ohio State - $613,000
Scott Cochran - Alabama - $585,000
Jerry Schmidt - Texas AM - $575,000
Joey Batson - Clemson - $510,000
Rob Glass - Oklahoma State - $500,000
Ben Herbert - Michigan - $500,000

*The highest paid strength coach outside the Power 5 ranks is South Florida's Pat Moorer
with a salary of $300,000.
*The Pac-12 top paid strength coach is Washington's Tim Socha at $340,000. (Could this
be a reason many consider the Pac-12 the 5th best conference in the Power 5?)
*Ask Alabama players who they consider the most important assistant coach and 95% will
answer Scott Cochran. I agree.

Georgia DC Mel Tucker has been name Colorado's new head coach. His salary structure:
2019: $2.4 million, 2020: $2.675, 2021: $2.95, 2022: $3.225, 2023: $3.5. Tucker made
$1.5 million at Georgia this year.

Missouri's Barry Odom received a new contract paying $3.05 through 2024. His total in-
centive package is $1.8 million.

New Ohio State coach Ryan Day went from making $1.2 million a season to $4.5. Nice pay
increase.

Hugh Freeze (ex-Ole Miss) will be the new head coach at Liberty University. Freeze is
the only coach in college football to beat Nick Saban twice.

Temple's Geoff Collins will be Georgia Tech's new head coach. He is a native of Conyers,
Georgia just a short drive from the Atlanta campus.

Cal coach Justin Wilcox has signed a new 5 year contract. The new deal includes a pay
increase and more money for his assistants. Wilcox has gone 12-12 his first two years
with the school.

App State AD Doug Collins said he will name a new head coach in the next couple of
days. Interest in the position has been high and it looks like North Carolina State
offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford might be the leader.

Will Jim Harbaugh stay at Michigan? Rumors are circulating he wants out and would
entertain offers from the NFL. Green Bay or Cleveland might peak his interest.

What was Illinois thinking?
& I would bet Harbaugh bails.
Missouri panicked, Odom had an NFL first round draft choice QB to rely on in his brief stint, what next?

Auburn has hired Memphis OC Kenny Dillingham as their new offensive coordinator. Gus
Malzahn said he will call the plays next season. Also, receivers coach Kodi Burns will add
passing game coordinator to his duties.

App State is now considering former East Carolina head coach Ruffin McNeill and Alabama
co-offensive coordinator Josh Gattis, along with a couple others. Gattis has been offered
the OC job at Maryland.

Fired Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre has been hired as DC at Ole Miss. His deal is for three
years, $1.5 million per season. MacIntyre will also receive $10.5 million from his settlement
with Colorado. (Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.)

Jim Harbaugh told ESPN this weekend that he was staying at Michigan. He said opponents
started these rumors every year.

Iowa State signed coach Matt Cambell to a contract extension that runs through 2024. One
million dollars was also added to the assistant coaches pool. Cambell makes $3.5 million
per season. Iowa State's six Big 12 wins this year were the most in the 23 year history of
the conference.

Kansas State has narrowed its search down to North Dakota State's Chris Klieman and Troy's
Neal Brown. Klieman has a 67-6 record along with three national championships at NDST.
Brown has posted a 30-8 record at Troy the past 3 seasons.

Northwestern OL coach Adam Crushing has agreed to become the head coach at Eastern Illinois.

Alabama plans to promote QB coach Dan Emos to offensive coordinator. Emos joined the
Bama staff last year after serving as OC at Arkansas for 3 years. Before that, he was head
coach at Central Michigan for 5 seasons.

Kansas State has officially named North Dakota State coach Chris Klieman as its new head
coach. At ND St., Klieman won 3 national championships with a 67-6 record. A really good
coach who's walking into a terrible situation.

Temple's search for a new coach seems to be narrowed down to two coaches. Specifically
being mentioned are Texas A&M DC Mike Elko and Miami DC Manny Diaz. Temple officials
made it clear they wanted a defensive minded coach.

Butch Jones (ex-Tenn) and now an Alabama analyst has been offered the associate head
coach position with Maryland. Rumor has it that Saban wants to keep Jones on his staff.

New Colorado coach Mel Tucker (Ga DC) has offered Jay Johnson (Ga asst) the OC job
at Colorado. Georgia LB coach Dan Lanning was offered the DC position but turned it
down to stay at Georgia.

UAB head coach Bill Clark has won the Eddie Robinson Award that goes to the outstanding
coach of the year. Finalist included Brian Kelley (Notre Dame), Nick Saban (Alabama),
Dabo Swinney (Clemson). Clark was an outstanding high school coach in Alabama (106-11)
and has parlayed that into a successful college coach. Very deserving!

Excellent info, much appreciated!

Tulane fired it's OC Ruse right after their final game (Navy) and hired the Memphis TE/associate head coach... the question is, who will call the offensive plays? The new OC? Will he be ready, it is a fast moving responsibility. Or will the head coach at Tulane be able to comfortably jump right in?

Two bowl massacres last year were when SMU was abandoned without anybody who could call the offensive plays, and same at Missouri U. There was literally nobody in either circumstance to take over, Missouri OC left and took his OL coach who had been the back up O play caller and the head coach at Missouri was strictly a defensive oriented coach, could not even try, they gave it to a junior bird man novice offensive assistant to the assistant to the assistant coach who had NO idea. Missouri was a clusterschtook, even with a future NFL QB and a hot offense, they were a mess.

Miami defensive coordinator Manny Diaz will be named the new head coach at Temple.
Diaz has been a DC at Miss St., Texas, Louisiana Tech and MTSU.

App State has hired North Carolina State OC Eli Drinkwitz as its new head coach. He
had been OC at NC St. since 2016.

Colorado has hired Georgia defensive quality control coach Tyson Summers as their
new defensive coordinator. Before joining Georgia in 2018, he served as head coach
at Georgia Southern (5-13) during the 2016 season and part of the 2017 season.

Strength coach finalist for coach of the year honors: Matt Balis (Notre Dame), Lew
Caralla (Buffalo), Scott Sinclair (Georgia) and Mike Sirignano (App State).

Army had an incredible 86 percent fourth down conversion rate as they made 31 of 36
trys. Pretty gutsy of the coaching staff.

Good work CL.

I can't believe that fucking lazy, fat, piece of shit Jim "Butters" McElwain landed another head coaching gig. WTF was the AD at CMU thinking?

I like the staff Les has put together at Kansas.

What are people's thoughts on the K-State hire? Kleiman went to Wyoming and didn't necessarily do so well (compared to his success at NDSU). I'm curious to see how this guy does at a P5.

Really surprised at the Mel Tucker's choices for his coordinator's.

The App State hire is uninspiring.

MAC is the right level for Mac ... he crushed it at CS and probably got some great reviews from the ex-CMU guys at bama (jones, enos). He's a good coach for 2nd tier football just not ever for power 5. He'll do well there

not expecting much from the ND State guy... dude plays teams every week that are far below his talent level and now has to play teams above his talent level

Tucker is a young guy, has a very small scope of network he can draw from unless he wanted to put some actual work in on creating a staff which, clearly, he didn't want to do

Minnesota's P.J. Fleck is getting a one year contract extension taking him through
the 2023 season. Back in January of 2017, Fleck agreed to a 5 year $18 million deal.

Matt Wells contract at Texas Tech is for 6 years, $18.8 million. He also has an incentive
package worth $1.0 million. Should TT decide to fire him, they would owe him 70% of
his remaining guaranteed contract. Offensive and defensive coordinators David Frost
and Keith Patterson received a 3 year contract worth $600,000 per season.

Mike Locksley's new contract with Maryland is 5 years, $2.5 million per year with $100,000
increase each year thereafter.

Incredible Run: Dating back to the 2011 season, North Dakota State is 110-8 overall, 58-6
in Missouri Valley Conference play, 67-5 playing at home and 28-1 in the FCS playoffs with
six National Championships. They are currently playing for a 7th NC. These national titles
are earned...not fake bullshit. Just had to say that.
