was he really legendary ??

sure I remember him from the 80's when it was WWF. Just seems any wrestler from the 80's is a Legend of some kind.

I never thought of it like that until reading this post but that is definitely true. Seems like every 3 months a wrestling "legend" dies.

Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Ric Flair are legends. A lot of these guys dying I don't even know who they are. Jake the Snake was on Joe Rogan pod a few weeks ago and he referred to him as a legend.

Is Jake the Snake a legend? If he is then Jamal Mashburn needs to be referred to as an NBA legend.

Jake is definitely a legend. Many in the business will tell you no one was better at ring psychology. People forget that at one time he was by far the biggest face in the WWF in the 80's (even over Hogan). They planned on turning him heel and had him DDT Hogan on his talk show & the crowd pop was legendary. Vince was so shocked, they canceled the angle & I don't think the segment was allowed to air on TV.

People like a Koko B Ware, The Red Rooster, etc are known names to old school fans but not true legends of the sport.

yeah I would have to say Jake the Snake by their definition

but I agree with Pats here. When you talk about "Legends " in the WWF/WWE, you think about Hogan, Macho, Flair, Undertaker, etc

of course in my era, bruno sammartino, chief jay strongbow, andré the giant, jimmy superfly, ivan putski, etc were Legends...

They probably have Mick Foley asa Legend too. Huge Fan base, Crazy matches, been around a long time. I actually met him in a supermarket about 16 years ago
Nice guy. and there's a guy that really did Break almost every bone in his body. He had a broken hand when I met him.

So I guess you need to know what their definition is to make you a Legend.
I've always had a hard time with their " Hall of Fame " as well. But whatever.... Vince took his Father's business and turned it into a HUGE Money maker

I have zero respect for their hall of fame.
