Now it's Will Grier. He's the 4th rated QB in the draft.

I don't blame these guys but this is getting dumb.

Blame their agent..they dont want to miss their payday. I think the players would play if it was up to them

Yes. It was a huge deal to get to play in one. I think there were only like 4 or 5 for a long time. All on New Year's Day.

Great days those were. Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma , No Dame, Penn St etc back in the day made for some good bowl games

Players are taking advantage of the only power they have. Someday, a team or two will refuse to play in the NCAA BB tournament in the name of players' rights.

the elite players get only a small % of the benefits compared to the economic
return they give their schools and the NCAA. they certainly aren't slaves, but
they are entitled to and should protect their long term interests. until the
schools offer to pay for or subsidize disability or injury insurance, the players
would be foolish to jeopardize their ability to sign a lucrative contract by playing
in a bowl game. football is a sport where a catastrophic injury can happen at
any time and will happen to far too many athletes. they are doing the prudent
not the dumb thing.

The Notre Dame LB cost himself around $20 million after blowing out his knee in the bowl game. I don't really blame them for sitting out if they think they'll be a 1st or 2nd round pick.

Do you have any other examples to provide besides J. Smith? Didn't he have a huge insurance policy to protect himself too?

Really, the smart thing to do is not play..... once you have that guaranteed money .... you should stop.

All that cash money in contracts is worth more than some freak accident.

Just real talk. I'd rather they play, but got to get that money.

Where does it end though. It's one more game. Is the next wave of agent advice to advise the players to stop playing after October if they are healthy and have draft status locked in. Maybe Tua will plus the first five games next year. Then sit the rest if the year on agents advice.

I don't blame the players one bit. The amount of money these schools make for a scholarship that most of these players really don't use to get an education is pretty ridiculous. If the school cares so much about these big name players not sitting out, they can take an insurance policy out to protect them in the event of an injury. The only reason Andrew Luck played his 3 years was they had a policy taken out by his parents and if he even broke a finger nail, he was going to get paid. My heart doesn't bleed for the school and the gamblers can adjust (it's not like they don't know about it before the game starts).
