The Yankees acquired Single-A outfielder Tyler Hill from the Tigers in exchange for cash considerations as they try to add more speed to the organization.

The Yankees announced the deal on Friday after Hill was selected in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft Thursday at the winter meetings in Las Vegas by the Tigers from the Red Sox organization.

“Has speed, puts the ball in play, and has the ability to draw a walk,’’ noted one scout.

Added another scout, “He’s a super athlete and is an under-the-radar baseball player.’’

Hill, 22, hit .254/.348/.312 (108-for-426) with 67 runs, 20 doubles, one triple, one home run, 38 RBIs and 54 walks in 124 games with Single-A Salem this past season. His 27 stolen bases led the Red Sox organization. He was caught stealing 10 times.

Over five seasons, the Wilmington, Del., native has combined to bat .275/.355/.369 (349-for-1,271) with 196 runs, 58 doubles, 10 triples, 14 home runs, 149 RBIs and 93 stolen bases in 351 minor-league games.
