What was the Massey Rating system?

Hey all, hate that the season is almost over but this is the time to make some money!

Do any of you remember what the Massey Rating system that was used that hit at a very high rate last year?

The Massey Ratings posted a 48.3% ATS mark during the 2018 regular season.

it was to play the better rated defense in every bowl game ATS and a bit on money line for underdogs

did very well LY but was also the first time i heard about it. something to add into your research but would not play blindly but i doubt you would ever get buried by constantly playing the team with the better defense

Last year it was around 30-10 ATS.

Year before 24-16.

This seems to work best the first 20 games or so
Look at other defensive ranking methodologies to compare and get a full picture
Look at SOS
You have to look at other things, too, like performance last 304 games, conferences played in, coaching changes, injuries/players sitting out, weather (gonna be hot for NI boys in Boca Raton) and sure, the offenses, too
Oklahoma D is ranked 86, Army's 22, that has a lot to do with other factors, I would take the 11 starters on OK over the Army 11 starters, wouldn't you?

Ok # 86 vs Army # 22. Yes, i would take Ok if that was straight up. However, I would take Army using the Massey Rating but what would the line be??? Army would win ATS 66% of time... lol just saying. 66% over the years is pretty good but i would factor other things to get that % higher. Thanks everyone for your inputs! Good luck
