A former U.S. Army Green Beret has been charged with the 2010 murder of a man he suspected
of being a Taliban bomb maker.

The charges follow multiple investigations of Major Matthew Golsteyn's role in the man's death
that he once admitted to Fox News during a 2016 interview.

"Major Matthew Golsteyn's immediate commander has determined that sufficient evidence exists to
warrant the preferral of charges against him," said Lt. Col. Loren Bymer, a spokesman for U.S.
    Army Special Operations Command.

"Major Golsteyn has been charged with the murder of an Afghan male during his 2010 deployment to
    Afghanistan," he continued.

On Thursday, Golsteyn’s attorney Philip Stackhouse tweeted that he had been charged with "premeditated
murder, a death penalty offense for allegedly killing a Taliban bomb-maker during combat operations in
    Marjah, Afghanistan."

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that what you're expected to do, kill the enemy?

No point Dave. It just gives more information about what happened than what you posted. Your post insinuates he killed him in actual combat which wasn’t true. I’m not making any conclusion from it but the article does give more information about the incident.

In one breath you say no point but in the next you say my post insinuates he killed
him in actual combat which wasn’t true. I suspect that was the point you were trying
    to make all along.

Question for you. Do you believe he should face the death penalty for killing the guy
or any penalty for that matter?

I wouldn’t dare answer a question like that until I knew the facts of what actually happed. I never jump to a conclusion based on just one article I read on the internet. Maybe that’s the actual point I was making since you insist I was trying to make a point.

And before you turn this into a pissing match, when I first read your post I thought the exact same thing as you. But after researching the incident I realized there was more to it than just what you posted. So I merely posted an actual article that gave a more detailed account of what happened. That’s all, nothing else.

He should've gotten another medal for digging up his body and burning it. Our enemies laugh at us for crap like this.

Apparetly Army Secretary Eric Fanning and Gen. Mark Milley, the Army chief of staff, are
responsible for bringing charges against Golsteyn.

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R., Calif.) summed it up best in a letter he wrote to them.

"Major Matt Golsteyn is an American hero, and his experience calls to attention another hero,
retired General James Mattis and something he said: ‘… there are some a–holes in the world that
just need to be shot,'" Hunter wrote. "I know you agree that a known Afghan bomb-maker with the
blood of American servicemembers on his hands fits into that category."

    Amen.

    Here we go again...

A decorated Navy SEAL will face court-martial for charges including premeditated murder
in the death of a young ISIS fighter in Iraq.

Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher faced an Article 32 hearing in November at Naval
Base San Diego. During the hearing, U.S. Navy prosecutors accused Gallagher of premeditated
murder for the stabbing death of an injured ISIS fighter who they estimate was about 15 years
old. The stabbing happened in Mosul, Iraq, in May 2017.

Gallagher is also charged with aggravated assault for shooting Iraqi civilians.

Special Operations Chief Gallagher has denied the charges. He will be arraigned at Naval Base
    San Diego on Friday.

I wonder what it's like to be a one legged man in a ass kicking contest?
