my dog who had emergency surgery a few months back for an infection is now diabetic. The dr believe the infection could have damaged the pancreas and caused this issue. She never really got human food from us besides the occasional meat and ate twice a day. once in the morning and once at night. I have been giving her insilin injections that pass two weeks and she seems to have more energy/playfulness and her coat is looking better. Felt like the looked like she was losing a little weight too, but the scale at the vets didnt seem to agree. They did a gluclose curve taste today and her numbers are still really high, so were increasing the dosage by 50%

Simon, my Westie, died 2 years ago at age 16.
We were giving him insulin for the last 2 years.
He was also blind and arthritic but still was happy and giving love and joy to everyone he came across.
He hated those shots though! Would try and bite/snap when he knew it was coming the older he got.

Had to put Bonnie down last night. Tuesday her eye sight went close to non existant, she had trouble walking/standing. Drs ran tests said it could be a mass in her stomach absorbing blood/protein. Might have been a brain tumor pressing on her eye and throwing off equilibrium. Her blood sugar was staying highly elevated even after her normal insulin injections

Sorry for your loss kidman :sad3:

It is awful to go through that but take some relief that her suffering is over.

A great loss. But also a blessing.

Only direction is forward.

May need to get another dog, too.

Good luck.

Very sorry to hear kidman. I've lost 2 dogs myself so far. They are family and it's awful to lose them.
