Travel Weekly, announced the winners of its 16th annual Readers Choice Awards; the awards are presented in 78 different categories ranging from hotels to tours, cruise lines and much more. Costa Rica took the first place as the best destination in Central and South America.
This year’s winners were announced at the Readers Choice Awards Gala at the Conrad New York on Dec. 13.
Costa Rica is described as follows:
“With one-quarter of its land area a national trust for parklands and wildlife refuges, Costa Rica is a draw for ecotourists and adventure travelers. Visitors are also attracted to its “ring of fire,” with the Arenal Volcano being among the 10 most active volcanoes in the world, and its diving, especially in Cocos Island National Park, a World Heritage Site.
The other finalists in this category were Argentina, Brazil, Belize, Panama and Peru.
