Clemson will start the game tonight trying to get the ball on the perimeter. While I don't have the sequence of plays look for a jet sweep or a throw to the sideline to a WR with blockers. While Clemson will have to try running between the tackles they will get stuffed and are expecting too. They need play action to open short to medium routes as Bama is bringing the heat tonight. Because Lawarence is not a threat as a runner Bama is pinning their ears back. that is why Clemson has to have production on the perimeter run game. This game can get ugly if Clemson does not connect downfield. Lawarence will not be allowed to stand alone quietly and throw bombs all night.

An early thing to watch for is Clemson getting stuffed on the perimeter run/pass game. They will not have much on the ground between the tackles, TL will be brought down to earth tonight, the only question is how bad will it get for Clemson. I think their defense keeps Clemson in this game so I have a tease of Clemson +13.5 and the under.

No way does a freshman, playing an ACC schedule, on a team that gave up 600 yards in the air to the only two SEC teams they faced this year, embarrass Saben in a National Title game. Clemson's defense keeps this within 13.5

Be careful saying TL is not a threat as a runner. He may not like to run but he is more than capable. He runs the 40 in the low 4.6s which make him faster than Tua. Far from shabby for a QB.

If you were designing a QB on Madden, then it would look an awful lot like TLaw.

If Clemson wins this game, which is fine with me. It's not going to be with TLaw's legs. He is going to have to make some freakish throws and get lucky a few times.

Clemson's front 7 is going to have to force Tua into a bad game. If he is allowed to attack Clemson's secondary this game is over quickly. Clemson faced 2 SEC teams this year. They gave up a combined 600 yards in the air. Bama is the granddaddy of the SEC if Clemson gives up 300+ tonight my +13.5 is in trouble.

Clemson beat everyone they put in front of them.
They played the same ACC schedule in 2016 when they lost 45-40 and in 2017 when they
won 35-31 versus Alabama. Your mentioning the schedule is a weak argument.
The one sec school, South Carolina, got most of the passing yards in 4th quarter after Clemson
put 56 on them. Weak argument to mention in trying to justify your narrative.
Why don't you mention Alabama 22nd in pass defense giving up 6.1 yards per pass and 187
yards per game. Guess it does not fit your narrative. Clemson has the players to give Alabama
a very competitive game offensively and defensively. We will see how your bold predictions
play out after the game.

Agree.
He’s picked every SEC favorite (I think) so far, with his write ups implying all other conferences are sissies.
Sure the SEC is the best but not superior.
Bama allowed 34 to a Big 12 team and didn’t cover. Georgia got hammered. Miss St got thumped. So did Missouri. South Carolina. Vandy, too. Last 5 were favorites that lost SU.
I lean to Bama in this spot but Clemson is for real, loaded with NFL beef, good coaching.

Many star players held out in those sec games mentioned and one qb was injured early, so i believe your argument may be tainted little.

Overall... nope.
Florida benefitted big vs Michigan had 3 NFL top picks out.
LSU had several sit out but UCF top QB was out he was their key player.
OK St top NFL RB and OL were out.
Georgia NFL CB and lineman sat.
Not a valid argument it balanced out I’m not going over every game.

Serbone, It is a tough game. Tua is the best college qb I have watched.
Bama will put up points. But the intensity of these games sometimes
overcomes the slim difference in talent. One intangible I believe is Clem
has the positive energy. Dabo is a very positive person and has these guys
peaking at the right time. Saban has some much drama and getting upset
about any little thing. I know he is the best coach in ncaa but Dabo is right
there in a head bob. He has built something really special at Clemson and
I believe it carries over to a huge game like this. For sure Tigers will fire
their best shot. Good luck whoever you take.
