A light aircraft crashed and burned this Tuesday in the area of Pococí, Limón.
The initial information released by authorities explain that the airplane had landed in a private airport in Lomas de Sierpe where it stayed for about 20 minutes and then took off again, it was precisely during the take off that the plane plunged into a banana field and immediately exploded.

Because of the intensity of the fire, authorities, suspect that the plane had the fuel tanks completely full. Only the remains of one body, entirely burned were found among the remains of the plane.
The Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ) informed that it was an illegal flight, apparently it came in from Mexico, flew over the Pacific coast of Guatemala and El Salvador, and in Nicaragua it crossed over to the Caribbean and finally landed in Costa Rica.
Experts explained that the airplane took off towards the coast, with the wind to its back which is not recommended, it is likely that the plane was also carrying an important load.
A GPS was found in the area, as well as some navigation charts where several places in Central America were highlighted.
