The Chiefs have hosted six games at Arrowhead where the temperature was below 10 degrees, and only five since the merger.

16-2 in the playoffs doesn't mean much. He is 1-0 on the road in freezing weather. That game was against Pitt who he owns period. Take out Pitt and he is 1-3 on the road vs all other teams. I would be a bit more concerned with how Mahomes does in cold

It's good to look at Brady's past performances in the cold but has anybody thought about how old he was in those previous games compared to be 41 now? When you were 24 did the cold affect you like it did when you were his age now? Mahomes is young. The weather won't affect him like a guy who is 16-17 years older than him.

So, Brady is 14-2 in freezing at home and 8-2 in not freezing at home. Really little difference. If you are the best team and at home in the playoffs you would expect to win cold or not. More about being the better team and being hme than cold. They are seemingly(it is arguable) not the better team and on the road. A more interesting approach is what is the home record of teams in freezing weather when favored by around 3 or more(considered the better team)

Do not try to say Brady's competence in cold weather is not real. It is.
I like Brady and Edelmann, Gronk, and Hogan in the cold over Mahomes and his guys, but not enough to make me go with the Pats on that basis alone.
It is a factor, but not a final determining factor.
Brady understands the physics of cold weather has been doing it for a long time. Short passing game, to the right spot for the receiver to catch it, the right angles, etc. Mahomes is a dynamic talent but he is not in that category. And Saturday it was 31-33 degrees, this is different, exponentially colder.

(HATE that a game of this magnitude with 2 of the top NFL offenses is in an arctic blast but that's the breaks, shoulda at least had them play the day game and Rams/Saints the night game in the dome)

He was 41 Sunday, 2 days ago, temp was in the 20's, he tore a decent Charger defense to shreds.

Chargers game plan was highly suspect. Brady is great against the zone and rivers was taking shots 20 yards down field on every other play. Not saying KC comes up on top just the chargers game means very little.

The only true factor, is one that doesn't effect each team evenly. Its called the secretly under-inflated football.........

I think the weather effects the defense more than anything else. I wouldnt want to tackle anyone if I was frozen. The offensive lines should dominate the line of scrimmage.

Chargers game means VERY LITTLE?
I beg to differ.
The Pats took apart a pretty solid squad.

The Chargers predictable defense with a 4 man rush and zone coverage on New England passing plays was the main reason for the Chargers loss. Brady and Hoodie were taking what was given to them. I think they did not even believe the Chargers made absolutely no adjustment for the entire game. This was one stupid / stubborn coaching staff.

Before the Chargers game, all we heard about is how good they are, how they'll dominate the line play on both sides of the ball, how it's Rivers' year, how bad Brady looks, how old the Patriots are, how this was the Patriots worst possible matchup......

With hindsight, everyone now knows the Patriots would win, but now KC is going to roll them

I love the Patriots in miserable conditions, they thrive in miserable conditions, they never lose focus

Belichick and Brady will be prepared for any conditions

San Diego may have been a good team but let's consider a few things. . Rivers can't beat New England in the playoffs. SD was on their 3rd straight road game. Since when is SD good in cold weather? How does Belichek do with an extra week to prepare for a team? All those factors worked against SD last week.
This time around KC is just as fresh as New England and they are used to playing outside in the cold. Plus you have the NFL MVP on your side.
Also KC can get to the QB with a 4 man rush. The only way to beat New England is with that exact recipe.

I honestly don't think the cold gives a edge to either team. They both play in cold weather and absent heavy wind I don't think the game is affected much.

We all know this. I wrote the same thing BEFORE the game, ad nausea.

It still was a big win, 35-7 at the half. Brady could have kept going to 55, 60 points.

You say the Charger game doesn't mean anything... then, oh, KC with 2 weeks rest beat a sissy dome team in the 31 degree cold, also playing after multiple road trip to Dallas and Tennessee. So please explain how only NE had an easy date.

What we are talking about now, is:

  • Brady has been playing in the cold for decades, Mahome has not, their win was against a dome team and it was cold, but only 31-33 degrees, this week it hockey stick curves down to single digits. Brady is ready. Is Mahomes? How do you know if Mahomes is ready? Tell me.

  • Edelman, Gronk, Hogan... I like them catching passes in the cold, they have, KC does not have that track record

  • NE OL is much better than KC's, it is, nobody talks about this (see: Football outsiders)

  • NE DBs are pretty good

  • NE RB's Michel and White are better than the KC RBs

  • Reid is a good coach, he is known for chocking in the playoffs... and Belicheat is the master of all

SO Pats +3.5... I am deciding small-regular or BIG play, later.

Don't kid yourself here, Brady and Belichick are going to kick the living SH$T out of KC if it's anywhere near ZERO!! This Team thrives in these elements and I can't see a Rookie QB from Texas on the biggest stage he has ever been on beating Brady for a shot at ring #6. Way too many Veterans on NE who have been there, done that and been part of this script before. Just my .02 on it
