With all the transfers that are taking place today it is almost impossible to figure out "who's on first". I remember the days (I'm sure many of you have too) when transfers were few and far between and when they did occur there had to be good cause as to why they were made.
I guess with so much talent out there today and only so much playing time, some of these players feel they have to play "musical chairs".

Could any of this "school hopping" have anything to do with players becoming disillusioned when coaches don't live up to their expectations (i.e promises) ? That could be a two way proposition, how often do players not live up to the coaches expectations and end-up on the bench, we all know what happens then..........grrrrrr.

Gonna get worse unless the NCAA gets control of the downward spiral.

I have not 1 issue with graduate transfers tho.

I actually like the graduate transfer rule.

However I like the old days (for undergrads) that is you transfer schools, you MUST sit out a year (or use your redshirt).

I remember when i was in school, I was told that if you were "released", then you dont have to sit out a season. I wonder when kids are being recruited, if coaches are saying to the kid "If you are not the starter by year x OR if i leave the school, then we will release you if you wish and you can transfer elsewhere"

Another reason why I dont go goo goo ga ga over recruiting classes. 2 years later, a nice chunk of those guys arent even with the team anymore

They at least got their degree.......Do you know when did this started, graduates being able to transfer and gain immediate eligibility, I lost track of that option.

Your last paragraph......maybe it's just how wrong a lot of these recruiting services are. They pump these high 4* and 5* players to think they will just walk right in and start. Hardly the case. It does help weed out the true NFL prospects I guess.

Excellent point Albatross...I'm sure these "recruiting services" have a vested interest somewhere along the line. ($)

I was looking through the transfer portal and Miami has SIX transfers coming in. I'm not sure how many are grad transfers (immediate eligibility), but that's not a good way to build a roster...

Manny knows he has to have some instant depth. I dont see it the worst thing for a 1st year coach can do. Plus he is got his work cut out for him with Mullen at UF and the other top programs poaching south FL talent.

First year coach looking for some "fill ins". Their signing class from December was AWFUL (for miami standards). Had a bunch of guys de-commit even before Richt left.

If the transfers become instant starters, then good move for the canes

Looks like Miami will pull Williams out of Memphis.
