Wow, your're asking for alot from the run game. All they have to do is establish the run for their play action. That's it.

273 yards last week... made no sense, I could not believe my eyes, I had 'em, and liked it. Something did not add up.

Then, a Rams guard revealed a few days ago that the Rams had the book on Dallas.

Dallas uses stunts extensively, do not like to blitz, and he said they knew > 90% of the time what was coming, based on simple tells, player positioning, which hand the DL had on the ground... Jerry Jones acknowledged that it happened.

I actually did not think Gurley was 100%, by the way, maybe that tune up will get him back to 100%.

Saints missing a KEY defensive lineman, that is significant. But I am thinking that the Rams ground game display against Dallas was very misleading.

100 yards rushing has determined the Rams' fate, not 150

2-3 rushing for <100, 12-0 rushing for >92 in 2018

last year 7-0 when ran for at least 116 and 2-0 the year before

so won 21 straight when running for at least 116 yards and won all 12 games rushing for 93+ this year

I won't really disagree. But how many of those were on the road vs the best team in their conference in a winner take all scenario.? Yes, it is different

Seriously??

If we are filtering scenarios based on "on the road vs the best team in their conference in a winner take all scenario.?" that doesn't leave much to talk about.

That rushing stat absolutely applies to Sunday's game.

How about the fact they are 1-3 on the road vs teams with a better than 9-7 record on the road in those two years those numbers are relevant.
Seems if they are going to pull this win off they need more than just their typical winning number. Also, 116 would not have gotten it done vs Dallas

As opposed to a larger sample size against garbage teams? They could have beaten most with 70 yards rushing. One of the toughest things is winning a championship game on the road. Every team since 1981 has either limited their opponent to 17 or less points or run for a minimum 110 yards

Sure, if they play well enough offensively and defensively.
If they get behind is the question. Its hard to catch up running the ball.

On the other hand, if the Saints get behind, Brees is good enough to catch up and win.

In the Dallas game the Rams punted once! If the Saints play the way they played against Philly, then Rams will lose. They shut out Philly after the first quarter and made them punt 5 times. Philly only had 49 yards rushing.

Actually, the Rams arguably have as good or better passing offense than the Saints, 5th YPG in the NFL, 282 YPG to 253 regular season. And the Rams have a tad better options at WR & TE than the Saints.
Brees is an all time great one but Goff is pretty damn good.

Trailed off lately though.

COASTING last part of the regular season. Like KC, Saints, NE, Chargers, they all had it made, early.
And their opponent, the Saints... their passing fizzled "lately". They got behind with the Eagles so they had to throw and throw.
Last week somehow the Rams ran for 273, had a lead, did not have to throw as much.

Don't sleep on CJ ANDERSON. This little fat guy is the X factor. He looks really good with the Rams. I'm not saying rams will win but CJ Anderson will definitely make some noise. I could be wrong.

Once the rams lost Brown, and Gurley got nicked......the defenses could pin their ears back and go after Goff. No run threat. No Cupp. While the other receivers were locked on. The rams beautifully balanced offense was no more. Add Mr Anderson.......Gurley gets to rest, heal up. And the defense was no longer simple. I think its simplistic to think Goff was great, then stunk. Easier to picture in terms of what the defense was forced to do.

In this game the saints will have to stop, or impede the run. If not they lose. And what does it cost them to do that? As of right now, with Talib back, the rams defense is not that far from saints. Saints several key injuries.

To be honest, I think this game is close enough you could make an effective argument for either side. I.e., things to like for both. Close enough I made a small play for fun. Otherwise, its like the old joke......too much like gambling.

BOL 2 all!!

I will give credit to Goff. He made so big throws in clutch situations Also...the kicker.....clutch
