The work of the Drug Control Police (PCD) of the Ministry of Public Security, allowed the seizure of 975 kilograms of marijuana, five cars, cash and the arrest of 12 people.
The events took place on the early hours of Sunday, when an anonymous tip on the confidential line 1176, alerted over the transportation of drugs.
Public Police Force stopped a truck with two people and a car, also with two passengers, on the road between Cocal and Siquirres in Limon; when they checked the vehicles they found the packages of drugs.
Immediately, the Public Police Force was able to observe suspicious movements on other cars, and stopped three vehicles in the areas of Ocotal, El Carmen and Caño Blanco of Siquirres, Limón.
In total, twelve people were arrested: two Jamaican, one Colombian and nine Costa Rican.
The Jamaican of last names Campbell and Cort had no previous criminal record, the Colombian of last name Salas and 61 years of age had a previous infraction of the Forest Law; the Costa Ricans were identified with surnames Wilson (a female), Ruiz (criminal record on charges for violence against womaen), Castro, Baret (prior criminal record attempted murder), Rojas (prior criminal record for several offenses), Cameron, Corella, Cortes and Brown.
