FYI

I heard Lang on the radio talking about the SB.

His main points were

Pats are over rated
- Brady's 3rd interception would have sealed the game for the Chiefs.
- Brady's last 2 drives were against a bad defense that was gassed after 58 minutes of a lop sided TOP and plays, so not rally that impressive.
- Pats weren't impressive for a lot of their games Bills, Lions, Dolphins

My take was that he thought the Pats are good, but have been way over hyped, and the books are generally happy to be unbalanced on Pats, at this stage anyway.

Also

He mentioned that the owner of the casino that moved his Rams line to +3 for the afternoon did so as a marketing ploy to bring people to the casino to bet Rams, by drinks and lose some money on the slots and other games. Lang evidently knows him and said that the owner of the casino told him he was very happy with the result of the promotion.

Lang implied that there is a lot of Rams money on sideline, hoping to see the 3 again, Lang thought it was unlikely the line would get to 3, he spoke of a player waiting until next week to place a $1m bet but he didn't know what side.

Tks croaked for that, but I had Lang last night for his 25 dime Northwestern cbb game giving 7.5 points and lost the game, score 78-64...a 21 point loss. I won more $ with Brady than Lang and won't bet against him. Gl with your plays.

i also think many sharps will take rams, and pay the heavy juice buying it to 3. personally i cant see 3 unless a boat load of Pats an i cant see that either.im using 3 an think that is a good line for me,as my guys Love playing Pats + they lost last year.btw last years SB was not good for Vegas so far as strait bets and philly exotics, -i lost as i needed Pats ,i have a mostly new york and nj players an philly they loved.but Pats and everybody but nyg and eagles ill need Pats to lose. at least i think so.early money is on Pats from what im seeing and hearing but the Bulk of money Always comes in last 48hrs.so by next saturday the picture will get clearer.

Following up on Lang's pre match comments

He also mentioned these points prior to the match.

Lang talked about his good record and said he got the last 8 SB's or something like that, but he said his Patriots wins were a bit lucky and it was bad bad playing calling that cost their opponents the game ie the 283 game, 2 runs a FG and the Pats were done, and the Seahawks, hand the ball off to Marshawn and its game over.

So they were a couple of plays away from losing those games, and if they had lost, there would be a very different narrative around Brady and Belichik.

He also thought the coaching gap between McVeagh and Belichik is not that great and expects that McVeagh will also be able to come up with a good game plan with 2 weeks to prepare. I thought this was a good point.

Anyway now that the Super Bowl is over with.

I just heard Lang on the radio and was interested to hear to his comments about the superbowl.

I was surprised when he said that he called the Super Bowl result perfectly. After listening to him 10 days before the game I was in no doubt that the Rams were the team team he liked.

Technically he didn't actually call for a Rams win with his prematch comments, and I don't think he called for a Patriots win either.

He said that posted on the web a couple of days before the match that it was unlikely that Goff would be able to handle Belichik's defensive scheme for an entire game. Which is is quite sensible.

He didn't sound that happy with the Patriots win so I suspect he actually dropped at least a few dimes on the Rams, but covered himself online to protect his SB record.

If the Rams had won I expect he would have referred to his comments from the week before and claimed a win...

I've listened to Lang a few times now and he seems pretty knowledgeable, and he has some good insights, but he seems to be trying a bit too hard to support his record.

IMO the Rams were really hurt by the lack of any production from Gurley [for whatever reason]. Whether a "healthy" Gurley would have been enough for the Rams to get the win we will never know, but I'm pretty sure the game wouldn't have been as one sided as it turned out. I don't think you can be too critical of anyone who capped the game for the Rams based on a healthy Gurley, especially as the Rams kept implying that he was fine and that he would get more touches...
