Saw this movie last night with the wife...8/10

You may want to familiarize yourself with it because Christian Bale is going for best actor IMO

But also interested in your opinion of Dick Cheney

The movie covers a wide range of issues some briefly some in depth, pretty good effort from the director who brought us Anchorman and the Big Short.

Bale is worth the price of the ticket

I always wait to rate movie to see if I am still thinking about it the next day.

I remember Cheney as a shadowy character in the Bush cabinet did not realise he was really acting as the president.

So I did a bit of reading this am to see how accurate the movie is .....although right off the top the say the depecition is not 100% accurate.

Here's a write up from Esquire on the movie https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/movies/a26031488/vice-2018-movie-review-dick-cheney/

as long as you know it's a complete work of fiction and only focus on how well the actors portrayed the politicians then, sure, go 8/10. it is comically inaccurate but distorting history doesn't necessarily make it a bad movie. It's plenty watchable if you're not looking for a true story

exactly. Stone's movies are very entertaining and really well acted.

one particular moment i loved was the assertion that the term "climate change" was created by Cheney in the late 80's in hopes that softening the term "global warming" would decrease the fervor behind reducing fossil fuel consumption. The reality is that term was coined by the WMO in late 1960's and came to prominence in late 70's after climate scientists were proven disastrously wrong on their, ahemm, Global Cooling crisis. By enacting "climate change" over "global warming/cooling" they can never be wrong since the planet is always going to have temperature changes

^^^This..was from a left point of view, but I liked the movie and as much as I hate what they stand for, the acting was tremendous..The whole movie I had to keep reminding myself that a bunch of libs made it
