im trying to avoid going to h&r block and doing them myself this year with turbo tax.

i've been googling the shit out of my question but i can't find a good answer. Its pretty specific , hopefully one of you guys can steer me in the right direction

I'm in NJ and I collected TSI (temporary disability insurance) for 6 months totaling $14,518
You don't get a 1099 for TSI like you do with unemployment

my w-2 form from my employer has Third-Party Sick Pay checked off (the state of NJ payed my temp disability )
Should that $14,518 the state paid be included into my Wages, Tips , other comp amount in section 1 I made during the 6 months i was working ? because it's not

from what i read and understand (or don't) the state should have sent a w-2 to my employer with all the information from my benefits last year
and should that all be included in the w-2 my work gave me ? Thats the question i have

figures the year i try to do it on my own i gotta deal with some weird shit like this

You may want to 1) ask your employer if the W2 is correct or 2) possibly wait a week or 2 to see if you are going to receive a 1099 or anything like that.

I would hold off on filing until you get those answers

As you have described it, it sounds as if you have received a taxable benefit. If that's accurate, you should receive a W-2 reporting Third Party Sick Pay, it most likely will not be part of your regular W-2. Since the due date for mailing W-2's to the recipients is January 31, it's possible a W-2 may be in the mail to you.
