If medicare is so great, why is there such a huge market for medicare SUPPLEMENTAL insurance?

Why don't some doctors accept medicare?

Why do seniors complain about their coverage?

If we're going to have open borders AND medicare for all (including illegals), HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY PAY FOR SUCH? Do you know the estimated unrecorded medicare and social security liability is 50 trillion dollars? More than twice our recorded debt. This is absurd

Is anybody capable of thinking anymore?

Medicare for all will bankrupt the USA.

240 million are on private insurance, 170 paid by employers, the estimate is taxpayers then would pay $3 trillion a year for Medicare for all. Our current national budget is $4 trillion, so it would go to $7 trillion.

SO federal taxes for middle class would go up to 60%.

Nobody explains that in the MSM, even Fox News does not, really.

And there goes all those private jobs, shifts some to the government. "Some"? Try 16% of our economy.

To boot, Medicare for all: you cannot sue the government. Some bureaucrat in a cubicle says you do not get treatment, then what?

Currently you can sue:

  • a doctor
  • a hospital
  • an insurance company
  • a pharmaceutical company
  • a medical device company
  • a nurse
  • a pharmacist
  • a clinic
  • et all...

This keeps everybody on their toes, they need to perform or face the consequences financially and PR wise! Capitalism vs socialism.

Here is what I've encountered since being on Medicare.

My wife a I pay more for Medicare than we did for private insurance.

If the test/procedure is preventitive it's completely covered.
But only 1 a year and in the next year you have to schedule one
day after the previuos year.

Example: Routine physical on April 1, 2018 in order to have it
covered in 2019 it has to be schedule on April 2 or later.

Detuctibles aren't like co pays. I had catarac surgery on both eyes
last year. First one cost me around $500 out of pocket. 2nd $250.

I've been lucky that I'm in decent shape and haven't needed any care.
I'll find out shortly how good or bad it is. I had a colonoscopy in
January and I have a polyp that was to large to be removed. That means
I'm likely to need surgery. That will be the litmus test so to speak.

Just tax the rich. If you tax the rich it will pay for everything.....we will all live in gold houses wiping our ass with golden toilet paper. Never have a care in the world.

Medicare for all is an appropriate term since they seem to literally want it for all 7 billion people. We might actually have had more social safety nets and higher wages if not for the endless trail of poor snail slime that comes into our country for over 50 years if you wanted to go in that direction.

Do you all remember when the ACA was passed and we all concluded it was the first step toward single payer?

You need a Medicare supplement, should cost you two about $450 a month total, seems like a lot but it is worth it, shop around, start with BC plans to get a feeling for the marketplace.

Thanks for the advice Mr. Peabody. I've been on Medicare 7 years and you don't
think I did my due diligence? Without going into great detail buying supplemental
insureance isn't for everyone. If you take a lot of meds and have a slew of doctors
then it can be benefical. Otherwise it's a rip off.

Rule of thumb for me is if you have to constantly advertise your product then it's
not worth buying. If your product is good people will seek you out. Word of mouth
is your best advertising. Is anyone here tired of seeing Joe Namath make an ass of himself?

My wife has one for $420 a year. She takes a shit load of meds, blood pressure, Cholesterol,
inhalers, shots in her knee ever 3 months, you name it she takes it. So I guess it saves
her money. What she fails to realize is if she just had control of her pie hole she probably
wouldn't need any of that.

I on the other hand don't take any meds and see a doctor once a year so for me it would be a
waste of money.

Well yeah, because it was. And save for a few years of nagging obstruction from the most recent (2017 class) Congress, it is a system that will methodically be tweaked and modified so that by the year 2030 or sooner we will join the rest of the civilized world with all US citizens having access to a solid form of universal single-payer.

The only way it doesn't happen is if the GOP can regain the US House with a decent majority while also electing another GOP POTUS. Best of luck!

We pay for it with ease by cutting our military budget in half

But that would take a POTUS willing to stand up to the voracious demands of the Pentagon.

And no President has even remotely proposed that since possibly Jimmy Carter and ironically enough, Richard Nixon

There is no such thing. Just ask any UK citizen.

Barbanman doesn't comprehend what an abject failure medicare is, a 50 trillion dollar deficit with below average service. Now they want to bring all that suck to everyone else. More proof liberals ARE NOT ABOUT FREEDOM, they're socialists, they want to control you, they know what's best for you, and they want to spend all your money.

Why is America one of the leading nations in the world in developing medical technologies? It's NOT because of socialism, that's for sure. It's because of a profit motive, it's because the American dream is about making yourself a success, and not about making $ 15 an hour at McDonald's

He's even advocating decimating a program that CREATES JOBS and develops NEW TECHNOLOGIES in order to expand a program that grows our welfare rolls. I wish I could say it's mind boggling, but I really expect nothing more from them anymore
