Going to be a sloppy track with no turf races.

There were no turf races carded from 5 - 10. I wasn't happy about that but now I'm happy again because there will be a lot fewer scratches which always fk with my night before handicapping.

Thanks for the info, wabash.

I read that race 8 was originally scheduled for the turf but because of the bad weather they already knew it would come off so it’s now listed as a dirt race. Sloppy tracks can be so unpredictable. Only 15 horses total in the 6 races have run on off tracks before so it should be interesting. But for a $10 million pot, I’ll take a shot.

My initial take after looking at all 6 races...

race 5...#5 Omaha Beach and #8 One Bad Boy are the logical choices here but watch out for #9 Mo Reserve, who cuts back to 7F after setting pace and finishing 3rd last out at a mile. Bred to handle a wet track by Uncle Mo out of an Empire Maker mare.

race 6...Bob Baffert trained Mucho Gusto is the speed of the speed and good front runners usually fare well over wet tracks. If the track is favoring front runners, I may single this one. Baffert has won this race 6 times also. Others to consider are #4 Gunmetal Gray and #6 Nolo Contesto.

race 7...#5 Toby Time takes a big plunge from MSW to this 30k claimer and adds blinkers for his 2nd career start. Must use on class drop alone. #8 Royal Aspirations is the one I like making 3rd start after paired byers(44) in first 2 starts. Added blinkers in last start and ran a good 4th and I think he will take a big step forward in his 3

rd start. First time starter #2 Camzul and #9 R B Eye(last out top beyer of 48)are 2 others to consider.

race 8...#5 Mandate is a logical choice here with beyers in the 70’s in his last 2, one on dirt and one on grass. I’ll use him but my top pick here is #2 Platinum Nights, who steps up in class after a 60 day layoff. Ran 3rd and 2nd in last 2 behind Easy Shot, who ran 5th in the Sham and runs today in the G3 Robert B Lewis(race 6). #3 Scalper and #8 Norski are others to consider.

race 9...if not for the wet track, I would single #7 McKinzie in this race. But his uncertainty on a wet track(Baffert said he has never even trained over a wet track) ends that thought. Too many others already proven over off tracks including Battle of Midway, who would be the top threat to McKinzie on a fast track. Only other one I may use here is #3 Dabster especially if front runners are doing well in earlier races.

race 10...this looks like the toughest race in the sequence, despite a probable clear favorite. But once you get past #10 Cayate, who is dropping in class after running fairly well against tougher, it’s pretty wide open. And I don’t like playing a single in last race, so I’m probably going about 6 deep here. Others I will use are #1 Candyman Garret, #4 Das Bear, #5 Isee It in Hiseyes, #9 Giddymeister and #11Typhoon Harry(my top pick).

Might have to fund xpress bet and try a two horse per race wheel

PS: No real horse capping involved for me, although I suppose I would include any super large chalk in my wheel
