mostly informed opinion, I love the Patriots
While often times looking weak and inconsistent during the regular season, they have turned it on and they are clearly the best team in the post season.
They rolled the Chargers, the game was not competitive, and many people thought the Chargers were the best or at least the most balanced team in the league. The Chargers "were too strong on both sides of the ball", well the Patriots dominated both sides of the ball.
Statistically, they rolled the Chiefs in KC. They dominated yardage, first downs, time of possession and even converted on like 14 of 19 third downs, many of them 10+ yards. The only reason the Chiefs were competitive is because they won the turnover battle 2-0, directly leading to a 14 point swing (potentially more, since I'm not giving the Patriots any points on their 2nd TO). Teams that win the TO battle usually win, but that wasn't enough for the Chiefs. If the Rams win the TO battle, their chances of winning increase dramatically. We don't know who's going to win that key stat, if we did it would make our job a lot easier. Don't give me no bullshit about the refs either. The Patriots had more penalties, 6-4, more penalty yards, about 60 to 25, and the Chiefs were awarded more automatic first downs, 4-1. They also stopped a drive with an offensive PI against the Patriots, while they missed an obvious and blatant pick on the Chiefs leading to their final score (the play Belichick threw his tablet). So blaming the Chiefs loss on the refs is pure poppycock.
In the playoffs, the Patriots have been an unstoppable machine on offense, clicking on every cylinder. On defense, Belichick is game planning and the players are executing almost to perfection. They're playing great on both sides of the ball. I think they're looking better in these playoffs then they have in any other post season in recent years.
Obviously, I can be wrong, I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again, but I love the Patriots today (especially if they don't lose the turnover battle)
