Los Angeles Rams +125

All we’ve heard for 2 weeks is how the Rams are lucky and don’t belong in this game. The Patriots dominated a Chargers team that had the worst draw I can remember. Coast to coast travel 3 weeks in a row, having to play NE at 10am in the cold…with NE having had a week off. What the fuck was supposed to happed?? They got stomped. Then they travel to KC and play the Chiefs and their porous defense, against a coach that never gets it done in the playoffs. Get a stop and the Chiefs are in this game. KC can’t get pressure and get off the field, a game ending INT negated by a penalty. Both of those teams put minimal pressure on Brady.

The Rams had poor defense metrics without Aqib Talib, but they are a different defense with him in the lineup. They shut down the running games of both the Cowboys and the Saints. They can pressure you with a 4 man rush, and the one thing Brady struggles with is pressure up the middle. Edge rushers can be neutralized with chip blocks from backs and TEs. Tackles can’t and If NE tries to double the tackles that leaves one on one pressure with the ends Fowler and Brockers. I believe the Rams will get a good push from their front four.

The Patriots have a solid defense, but teams have been able to score on them especially away from home. Chicago 31, Tennessee 34, Miami 34, Detroit 26, Jax 31 all on the road. They did have a solid game against Pittsburgh allowing 17 but also allowed 158 on the ground. They both allow 4.8/att which isn’t good, but I can excuse the Rams numbers a bit when you consider Talib missed a bit of time. The last 2 weeks with Talib they have been a different defense.

I think the Rams are sick and tired of hearing how they don’t belong here, they were lucky, etc.. The Patriots have had a long run of excellence, aided by some of the best fortune ever bestowed on a professional sports team (they are great, but a couple idiotic play calls helped them beat Sea and Atl, but great teams find a way and they did)...…but it can’t last forever. For all of the talk about how Brady and Belichick are the greatest ever, and while they certainly are the greatest of the last 20 years, They are 5-3 in SB, none in a blowout, and are a couple plays away from being 3-5.

I think Gurley has a big game (Over rush yards and rec yards), and I also like the rookie TE Everett to come through with some timely receptions and will play all of his props (rec, yards, Scores a TD). I don't think the Patriots will have the same success running the ball as they have had the past 2 weeks, and the Brady OVER attempts prop is solid as well as completions. I see him throwing a lot, getting the ball out quickly. White OVER receptions another solid prop.

Great chess match between the two coaching staffs, but I think McVey finds a way to get it done.

The Rams win it outright, call it 30-24.
