FYI.

They seem to finally have their shit together, attitude is solid, they apparently believe they can make the playoffs and are going all out after the break.

I am hearing good things about them that does not sound like "just" the usual positive narrative BS.

They totally outplayed Columbus on the road the other night, IMO enough to have won by 3-4 goals. Got the loose pucks, forechecked relentlessly, far out shot them significantly, hit hard, word is they have jelled and see opportunity. Earlier in the year they were a clustershtook.

Especially when Binnington is in goal, I am going with them next 5 games or so, expect to do well.

next couple games are tough. even in fla seems like a tight one. should get plus money though so good luck with it. the perron injury has me concerned. second on the team in points and good on the power play. schwartz or schenn gonna need to start scoring more, oreilly and tarasenko cant do all the scoring. good luck following them and may jump on a few with ya.

Agree.
I was thinking of writing this then heard about David Perron, he has exceeded expectations on his 3rd Blues stint... but I wrote it, anyway, I still think they will play well and that they feel they are in the hunt and are focused.
I watched the Columbus game, heard they were fired up, the Blues forwards were hitting, scrapping away in the corners, getting loose pucks, the non scoring forwards need to be hard nosed players in this league to win. The Blues had a burst a bit back but then faltered.
This time I believe they will carry on for awhile, so, when Binnington is in goal I will go with them for 5 games or so.

Slow start was of concern but they overwhelmed Florida in the 2nd & 3rd period at +100 to come from behind on the Florida slush-ice. Out shot em, got majority of loose pucks, backchecked, forechecked, blocked shots, wore them down. They did not play this way often earlier in the year and seem to be distinctly more focused lately. We shall see.

Tonight I am backing them again @ TB with the +168 though I would not recommend putting a bundle on them in this spot, TB is one of the best... I am hoping the Blues will be fired up on their playoff run and TB is coasting a bit at this point.

great call. gritty performance and impressive under any circumstances to hold tampa scoreless none the less at home. seems you got a good sense of the pulse of this team. 2 in a row and a great dog winner last night.

Yes the culture has finally changed + the new goaltender Binnington has been solid as opposed to the skitzo Allen. Again, last night, they out hustled, out fought, out played Tampa. And look at loose pucks, blocked shots, checking (but not "hits" that is a misleading stat), last night Blues were outshooting TB but a late flury by TB and they almost caught up. TB goalie was absolutely spectacular.

I will ride the Blues for awhile (with Binnington), and I have dabbled with the Blackhawks and always fading Anaheim lately (-1.5 goals), too, and continue to look for other opportunities. This is a great time of year for hockey.

It is not who you play, but when. Good to look for teams playing well that are fighting for a playoff spot against top teams that "have it made", and go against tired teams with no playoff future on their 2nd or 3rd game of a road trip. All of that...

I'll go with them again today -105, the Blues are now #2 WC seed but really need the game a lot more than Nashville does, at home on an upswing trend, they should be fired up again... Winnington in goal.

(also put a lil play on Philly -1.5)

3-0 since I made this case for the Blues.

They outplayed Nashville yesterday, did all of the little things that matter. Up 3-1, the Blues missed 3 open net shots from mid ice the last minute, then allowed a late goal to make it look close.

Both backup goalies will start, I will go again with the Blues in this ridiculous early start after a game yesterday. The Blues are simply are playing strong hockey, have jelled into the new program new coach Berube has implemented. Yeo had a fru fru European approach and the Blues are back playing hard nosed hockey. There has been a lot of inside talk about this the last 2 weeks, it is getting to the public now.

Blues backup G Allen is a bit of a flake but can play well, even great, on occasion.

Sure Nashville is tough at home and yesterday there was a lot of hard feelings, a few fights, but with with a backup G for Nashville, too, I will take the team that is still more motivated and playing well. Nothing big but going with the Blues.

Later today I really, really like the Blackhawks.

well done sir.
congrats and thank you

Thank you.

Actually yesterday the Blues did not play that well, at all, though good enough to win, in Nashville, against an angry team, lots of bad blood. The previous several games the Blues dominated, including the one against Nashville Saturday. Dominated. Sunday was a ridiculous back to back 11:30am game with two back up goalies so I do not hold them completely responsible.

Again, the Blues culture has been transformed from soft European attitude to more aggressive hard nosed hockey, and Barube is keeping it simple, Yeo was too much of a mini manager. New goalie Binnington has been a key component (though he was out Sunday). Tarasenko is giving it all he's got, too, as part of the surge.

I am disappointed this board was not ON the Blackhawks yesterday, so many reasons, better team, on a hot streak, at home with rest, Detroit tired from back to back road games, Detroit is OUT of it, Blackhawks fighting for a playoff spot, only -155.

4-0

Tonight I will ride the Blues again, -1.5 +125.

Sure there might finally be a letdown, but they are at home and should be strutting their stuff after winning back to back games home and away vs powerhouse rival Nashville, and before that @ Tampa Bay and @ Florida.

New Jersey is coming off a win but is reeling, pretty much out of it with trailing #2 wildcard Penguins by 16 points, would have to leap past 6 teams. Binnington is back in goal for the Blues tonight, the fans are jacked up (December and early January, the Blues were given up for dead, a laughingstock) and Berube has them playing loose and free (Yeo had them afraid to make a mistake). They are checking in both zones and beating their opponents to the puck, the defense definitely a part of making Binnington look so good.

After 4 very tough wins I realize the Blues might falter but in this spot I think they will realize they need to take a very winnable game like this...

GL!

(an angry Nashville -1.5, off 2 losses, should hammer Detroit tonight, Detroit is OUT of it, been on the road a lot lately)

this thread will not get the credit it deserves across this board but i must say how awesome the info has been in here. you said you were gonna take the blues for the next five games, they go 5-0 and look good doing it. last night they put it all together in a dominant performance. your a great asset to the forum, keep up the great work.

Might as well continue until they lose if you have gone this far. Good call on a hot team. That being said. They have been heavy on the road with wins on this streak. 5 game road trip won 4 of 5 including the last four. Won their last 5 on the road Now a 3 game road trip. My guess is they lose a minimum 2 of 3 on the road. But since you made a profit keep riding the streak Just to add I don't really play hockey. I have 1 system I play that almost always wins and it doesn't happen a real lot. JMO anyway

5-0!

I had some good local information, and even though it was mostly a tough 5 games ahead I knew they had turned the corner and had a lot going for them.

They didn't just "win" they clearly outplayed everybody in the streak except the game @ Nashville (that 11:30am back to back road game) with two backup goalies, both teams were gassed but the Blues still managed to win.

Again, the Blues have decent talent but were not playing well and the new system with new interim coach has produced results, both physically and mentally. They were fired up after the All Star break and the Berube system and leadership had them ready to go.

I will keep an eye on them, now the world knows they are decent and Vegas is adjusting, but a win is a win so I will be going with them here and there but not every game. It is a good time of year, 1) teams that are fighting for the playoffs, 2) teams that are giving up 3) teams that have it made and will not be going all out every game (do NOT believe the notion that an upper tier team is playing with intensity for a better seed this time of year, sure they are aware but still the players are not focused enough on that at all... a good time to play a top tier team this time of year is off a loss, after a wake up call, like Toronto last night).

I believe this forum is to exchange information, to help each other win
, and though some posters do OK, I do not like the "picking contest" mentality that posters just lob out a selection, then show their W-L, or disappear. I cannot support a poster who just puts out a game, and I do not know WTF they are basing the pick on. skins85 includes his rationale so I look at his picks and take them into consideration, and exploited17 (in football) does a thorough job, too, provides extensive backup... I learn and decide my wagers with their selections in mind.

The Blues are smoking HOT.

They are!

Rookie Binnington in goal has helped, no way of knowing if he will be able to keep it going, especially in the playoffs if they get there. The Blues defense and all around play has improved so maybe Binnington is not as responsible as it seems, and maybe Allen was not as inconsistent as he seemed.

They really are playing good hockey, all aspects. Some of the streak might be (as I mentioned) attributed to when they play a team, like Tampa was a good win but they have it made, so does Nashville.

There is talk of keeping Berube full time, though management did not intend for him to be permanent. Apparently the players like his approach and respect his leadership, they have "bought in". There is a long way to go, and of course the head coach decision depends on how they finish and who is out there (Quinneville?).

I think I will be on the Blues most games until they falter, depending on the match ups of course, but also recognize the run will fizzle at some point.
