As a man, are you more or less at ease with female doctors ?

I have certainly noticed an increase in female physicians over the last like 20-30 years. Many are clearly foreign born, often Indian by guess, some actually very tough to understand.

The lower levels of medical care, are extremely female. RN's are really the backbone of quality medical care, and easily 90+ percent female. Everything below RN, like PA, LPN, dental assistant or hygenist, phelbotomist, receptionist, etc, is overwhelming female

I didn't even have a primary care provider , until about 15 years ago at age 40. My insurance covers visits to an APRN as PCP. An advanced Practice Registered Nurse is an RN with a prescription pad and full powers to prescribe meds, almost a scary power level perhaps, sort of a quasi- MD, always female, BTW.

Will finish post in a few minutes, I'm not good at short posts on complex issues.

As long as they care it doesn't matter to me. The problem I run across is you don't see the DR for more than a min or so, they are always so busy.

Ok here's the deal. I'm just not comfortable with a lady dr handling my junk. Especially with all this #metoo shit

Well the first APRN, I had, I just didn't really care for her bedside manner so to speak, you do get your 20 minutes with them . I get what your saying Gabe, go to some specialist like a nephroligist or something and they be taking cell phone calls and shit during your appointment and it's like WTF ?, You literally might talk to her for 90 seconds !

Now my first real experiences with this not quite a doctor, but I play one in real life chick, were I guess my first with a female, she had no tact or Diplomacy in her manner, she would just say you need to lose at least 50 lbs. I damn well know that I weigh 260 and 180 might be a reastic goal for a much younger guy

This chick was maybe 27, and very fit and hot, but I dreaded the idea of going to see her and would often cancel and reschedule appointments for months later to avoid having to see her.

She was an avid runner, like the type to run marathons, and just anti- motivated me to improve my health

I actually gained a lot of weight with as PCP, but to fair that could be very correlated to quitting smoking for good at around that time.

I am not really like women as doctors around then !

Now after some years that Erin chick moved on , and I got assigned to this new ( just to me, very experienced) other staff APRN
Hit it off with her instantly and love her knowledge, experience, and just class. She's about 45, married and looks to be 30, maybe even 35, or ,40 lbs overweight herself. She can't really give me grief about being too fat. I actually peaked at 340 before she took over and got down to 290 in 6 months with, she gives me positive reinforcement in life and has given me the proper meds to tweak my blood pressure to just the right level after years of adjusting it just right !

I trust her any more than full on MD, and tell her things and concerns that no other person on the planet would ever be privy to, she's simply the best . I enjoy seeing her in person and just about make excuses to make an appointment to see her. She's cool with answering emails too !

The right provider can make such a huge difference

I've found it varies & depends on what you're having done.

Some female doctors are a bit more compassionate, which helps in some cases, especially dentistry.

I'm 51 and do not care. My primary care is a woman, her DO is a woman, too. Maybe in my 20s or 30s I might have cared, but never had a woman doctor back then.

I talk to her and see her offsite. Lucky to know her.

Oddly I want my dentist to be a middle-aged white guy, have had dozens of dentists in my life, only one female, anIndian woman, no idea how to rate the quality of her work, not like looking over a body and paint job on a car that was involved in a major crash and fell just short of being totalled, you can look that over close yourself, or axe a gearhead friend for an opinion on the quality of the repairs, at least cosmetically.

She didn't speak English or more accurately we should call it American, she might have been the best technically. Her name was something like Chopra, I just called her Dr. ShopRite when dealing with making future appointments with the receptionist, I got her laughing out loud with that one ! Having a good sense of humor goes a long way
. I swear these dentists have some kind of running joke with their assistant when doing a procedure, like let's a e this guy some irrelevant dumb question while he's got all kinds of tools and stuff in his mouth and see him try to answer.

I feel exactly the same way and could never be as honest with a male doc

Dont care either way. Just want a good dr. My father in law was my doctor but he passed away last year due to a heart attack. He was an amazing dr and obviously there were perks to have a dr in the family. None of us ever even had to go into the office. It's been a big adjustment losing that

My female dentist is hot as fuck 30 years old, makes the experience way better.

Agree it never is a handicap in life for a woman in particular to be attractive, competance is also a factor, but enjoying seeing your practioner is way better than avoiding her/him/it

I'm not saying it is right , but look no further than pop singers, most of these chicks are hot, same for an actress, they mostly are well about average looking
Nearly anything you can name jobwise is easier for a hottie

She was born with a face that would let her get away...

It is the norm and fully accepted. If I owned a bar, I hirey barmaid based on looks not skills
If I'm responsible for getting a receptionist for a law firm, looking good and being almost flirtatious with potential clients far outweighs petty details like knowing your job . It's been this way forever

I separated my shoulder a couple of years ago playing club rugby and the doctor at the emergency room was a lady doc. She told me to stop playing rugby and to never play tackle football. That was the last time I went to the doctor except when I was a kid. All I know is that I didn't take her advice

Have tried seeing 5TP in person many, many times at our local Hard Rock casino and am always told, "He's off today.....getting his teeth cleaned"
