A random stranger bashed a woman in the back with a metal police barrier in the East Village — then told her, “Tag, you’re it,” police said Tuesday.
The man was dragging the barrier across Bleecker Street near Elizabeth Street shortly before noon Jan. 20 when he approached the 26-year-old woman and, without uttering a word, struck her with it, cops said.
When the dumbfounded woman asked why he did it, he told her: “Tag, you’re it,” according to police.
The woman suffered a cut and pain to her back, but was otherwise all right.
Video released by authorities Tuesday shows the hooded goon lugging the fence from the street onto the sidewalk.
Police also provided a photo of the wanted man, whom they describe as about 5 feet 5 and 140 pounds with a medium build.
