Everybody should have at least $20 cash on their person, IMO !

I totally get the credit card/ rewards crowd, but some minor stuff like a cup of coffee should be done in cash .

I'LL wait a bit before giving my answer to this connundrem.

I expect this thread will get a lot of response ?

Actually,

Instead of paying cash for a cup of coffee, why not get the app of the coffee place and pay by the app?

I have a dunkin donuts, 7-11, and a wawa app. I put $25 or $50 on my card (paid from my cc). Every time i purchase a cup of coffee, i pay via phone through the app. With that, i get points. With the points, i get free shit.

No need for cash (although i keep cash on me at all times)

Put it in my daughter's piggy bank, every so often I make a deposit for her in a custodian account. Just did it this week actually, she’s now $200 richer than she was at the ripe age of 2.5...lol

To answer original question, we save our change and cash it in before going on vacation and use it for tips or anything else that may require cash

I use cash probably on 60% of my total purchases. Probably 80% of non online purchases.

I have a huge Budweiser bottle piggy bank that I got in my college years. Only put silver coins in it. Usually cash out around the holidays. It's always around 1k. I split it and give to my kids for Christmas.....then I make them put it all but 50$ in their savings account. One day they will appreciate that......they are not fond of it now tho.....lol. I'll assume by silver you mean non- pennies which many still think are copper but actually zinc. The modern day silver is primarily copper, but I get your meaning.

Some folks go to extreme lengths to put everything on a card with some rewards, I can't really be too critical of that.there is still some place for cash left
Gasoline is often best purchased with cash and things like a swap meet where the casual vendor is not equipped to process C/C payments
It's really all a part of a much more huge anti-cash government movement against cash which is untraceable.

There were once circulatid bill much larger than $100, up to $10,000 USD back in the 60's

Cash is usually quicker if done right, like your bill totals $3.73 at the convience store, just pull out a $5 bill or larger and the cashier is well equipped to handle making change, even a $100 bill is often accepted, always fine with a large purchase like $60+ in gas, perhaps refused for a Snickers bar or something minor like that.
