I went to Dover Downs Sports book - Casino early Friday afternoon.. Arriving about 2 pm. The book wasn't crowded at that time, but reading the numbers from the lighted board wasn't easy... Hey I'm an old guy, but understand that had tons college basketball games to put up... I went to make several bets but my key play was Virginia Tech money line.. When the number finally came up it showed as Virginia..not tech, again not a biggie, because I knew the opponent, so I placed a small parlay with them and Maryland --money line only --a 2 teamer... But my sole reason for riding 200 miles to place a bet was Virginia Tech money line.. Told a supervisor that it might be misleading showing "Virginia" and not Virginia Tech... Fast forward a couple hours...went to play some small craps, had a meal and came back at 6:30pm to place a straight on Va Tech money line straight up for a 1000. (Hugh bet for me).... Long story short, I finally got to one of the 4 teller windows at 6;59pm and was told the game was gone... My time was correct as it was on the cell phone... That's NOT my rant . 3 of the 4 windows open had guys handicapping at the window.. They took 10 to 15 minutes... They'd lean back and forth betting parlays to look at whatever they were looking at and then back to the teller.. The line moved at something equal to a snail's pace, because they allowed this.
I complained the next day, even though my small 2 teamer won, that this was beyond my imagination!! I had been there for the world series and Sunday football in October and this did not happen... I was told ny the manager they could do nothing about it as they were told until they were not fully staffed, nothing could be done.... Now there was only room for one maybe 2 more tellers....so I said what difference would it make if you allow handicapping at the window???? Duh? So, she said most of their customers were parlay players, so I asked why can't one line be straight wagers only???? Not a real response, just puzzlement... ( Now I ended up not cashing for +200 because of this nonsense). I just had to RANT!!
