While there's some momentum toward an 8-team playoff already, Bleacher Report
explores a 16-team affair. With 16 teams, every major conference champion, in-
cluding Group of Five participants would get automatic bids for winning their conf-
erence championship games or regular season title. Then six at large bids would
be extended to higher ranked teams. Here's a look at BR's 2019 field.

ACC: Clemson
AAC: Cincinnati
Big 12: Oklahoma
Big 10: Ohio State
Pac 12: Washington
SEC: Alabama
CUSA: North Texas
MAC: Western Michigan
MWC: Utah State
Sun Belt: App State

At Large
SEC: LSU, Georgia, Texas A&M
Big 10: Michigan
Big 12: Texas
Ind: Notre Dame

What do you think about Bleacher Reports 16 team playoff suggestion?

as a football fan it would be very exciting to watch but overall i think it would diminish the regular season and the conference championship games potentially. i dont see how people say it wouldnt. the debate of the top 4 is fun but there are only a handful of teams that can be debated. but for at large bids the debate would be enormous. trying to debate the #16 best team there could be 10 teams in that debate. that debate seems much more difficult even though its a better championship product once we get there.
i enjoy the 4 and feel like it worked this year with 3 undefeated teams all deserving a spot.

here is my only debate.

there is 1 sport where every single game in a season matters, its college football.
its the one aspect which is unique and we are going to lose that. changing this means that every team will be granted a second or even third chance and i just feel like that isnt what i enjoy about college football. your season hangs by a thread every single game you play and you cant overlook your opponent.
turning it into a tournament style national championship may eventually happen, probably will but then college football is just like every other sport when it comes to the regular season. you can rest your starters in the last week and lose knowing your in anyway etc.

it would be funny to mention that these are schools and that the games would be played around the finals for the semester......but that doesnt really matter i suppose.

I've always thought an 8 team bracket would be the best for the sport. all 5 Conference champs plus 3 at large.. play the 4 qtrs on New years day..

I dont like the 16 team bracket as who wants to watch a power team play an average sun belt conference winner in the round of 16 when they usually play them as a "tune up game" in September?

8 team bracket is the best way. The 5 conference champs plus the best Group of 5 team plus 2 at large games.

Get rid of conference championship games and play the Army/Navy game the first weekend in december.

Play the 4 quarterfinals games the 2nd weekend in december. 1 game on friday nite, 1 game at noon on saturday, 1 game at 4pm on saturday, and 1 game at 8pm on saturday

Play the semis and finals as its been the last few years.

When looking at the teams BR selected, I would have to differ with a few of them. First,
I believe Oregon should be included at least as an at large team when many predict them
as Pac 12 champs. I would also take Florida over Texas A&M as an at large team. Cincy
over Central Florida was a surprise and probably should be the other way around. I also
like Florida Atlantic to rebound from a disappointing 2018 to win the CUSA title. Could be
others...just thinking out loud.

No. Absolutely not. We need to preserve the value of the regular season.
