This should make the blood boil of every athlete who earned an athletic scholarship through hard work and dedication including their parents who agonized with them as they tried to climb the skill-ladder. I hope and pray this hasn't filtered into the ranks of college football but, with 80-90 player rosters plus red-shirt slots there would be room for some dead-weight.................This scandal is really bad.

I think this scandal is applicable to IVY League schools a lot... since there are no athletic scholarships so they look for students that can be on athletic teams for track, wrestling, swimming, lacrosse, cross country, soccer, etc., to enable them to field competitive teams, but also qualify academically.

So in IVY schools a candidate with a GPA and ACT the same as another but looks to be a good soccer player gets the admission, the other does not. They are also reporting that, then, some of these frauds that are not actually good athletes but got into school "this way" then feign injuries once they are in and say that they are unable to compete... sickening.

But let's not feel too sorry for all the athletes that are "real", many of them especially football & basketball do not belong in college, they are spoon fed ridiculously easy or even fake courses , and the very elite are even sometimes paid to be there.

Mack, back in the day my dad offered a Bama coach a dozen eggs to give me a scholarship.
Coach said NO and gave us a dozen chickens to not bother them again. My how things have
changed.

I'm glad to hear that "2ese".........with all the shenanigans gong on in the world today, we all still want the sport we love so much to stay as clean as the "driven snow",
it is not easy to do when there are so many people pissing into the snow banks today.

All these elitists (rich & famous) who got their Kids into these "elite" colleges and universities, whether it was through the scholarship process or by using made-up credentials, should be exposed and made to pay a big price,

Even though college football scholarship, as you say, weren't awarded to these creeps, a shadow is cast over the whole scholarship award process.

It appears that this scandal has been confined to "athletes" that were engaged in non-revenue sports such as rowing (crew) and fencing and Water Polo etc. but there were a few incidences where a major college like USC who is still reeling from a decade of scandals lead by the Reggie Bush matter, who offered a scholarship to a kicker who never previously attempted an extra point or field goal kick (Maybe they thought he had the potential to become another Garo Yepremian....LOL)/ The current admission scandal alleges use of fake football profiles for students who never played the game in H.S. or Junior college. Word has it that UCLA, Stanford and Yale and their surrogates are accused of accepting bribes.....all this misconduct castes a shroud over all sports not to mentions the institutions involved.

It appears that these recent scandals are confined to what has already been exposed and are not the "the tip of the iceberg", I hope so, the integrity of the sport we all love is at stake....
