1) Teams that were on the NCAA bubble and really thought they would be an at large team in the Big Dance... but were severely disappointed, perhaps they were screwed...

2) AND teams that were on the bubble for the last several games and then failed by losing their very last game...

3) especially teams that are power conference teams that are used to being in the Big dance...

... will probably be big home favorites but will not be thrilled at all and the home fans will not care that much... and if the visiting dog is excited to make the NIT after being out of the fray for several years, are on the upswing, especially a new coach with a new culture...

... and maybe a few more fit into the "disappointed" category... to different degrees... to me the question is which teams are on an upswing, hungry, maybe a new coach & new culture BS, and want the game(s) badly?

Another angle: NIT teams that travel 1000-1500-2000 miles to play ASAP in a different time zone against a home team and are wondering WTF are we doing here? (SD, Dayton, Grand Canyon, Presbyterian, a few others

Very difficult to determine which of these "just missed the big dance" teams will play without passion. For every one of these listed teams that might be unmotivated, there is another whose coach might use the rallying cry:
. "Boys, let's show that selection committee that they made a big mistake"
. Chance to play more basketball together as a team
. Both the semi-finals and finals of the NIT tournament are played in NY at Madison Square Garden. Many of these kids have never been to the "Big Apple."

So for example do you think Texas will be jacked up to play SD State? They had a good NET, had some good wins, but were passed up. Probably would have got in if they had won their very last game. Lottery pick player might be out. Coach might be on the hot seat. Players deep inside no respect for lil SD State.
Tell me...

Teams that have a new energetic coach with a clear new "culture change" team in the NIT on the upswing:

Memphis

I could be wrong, but it's hard for me to see much motivation for teams like Clemson, NC St., Indiana, and Texas, no matter how hard their coach is trying to motivate them. That said, the level of competition is certainly a step down from what they're usually facing. Harvard will be playing their 4th game in 6 days, Grand Canyon will also be on their 4th game in under a week and traveling across the country. Razorbacks on the road without their big man, I don't see how anyone could play them. Nebraska about to fire their coach? Just a few nuggets when initially looking at the slate.

Excellent.

Teams that are deflated, on the road, like Arkansas are likely to go thru the motions. Teams that were in the dance until the last game and blew it are deflated, unlikely to be up for a no name opponent, and some of the no name opponents won their league but did not win their tourney and are good teams and anxious to play a power team...

Those are some of the things to look for IMO and that is why I started this thread, hoping there would be some contribution I am too busy to look into every aspect of these games...

Probably not.
I do not like posters who lob out picks with no backup, no rationale.
Sure some do ok (like Willie) but most treat this forum like some kind of picking contest. Who knows where they get their GOY or biggest play of the year?
So I like to provide insight and stats and motivational aproaches to see if anyone else has useful information (sigh).
I took Providence yesterday -5.5 when I heard the 6’11” star on Arky is not playing to prepare for the NBA. And SEC did poorly last year in Big Dance and BE did well. I think Arky will fold, hostile northeast crowd, and I think the players deep inside think they can’t make it to The Garden without their star big.
Looking at SD State, Davidson, and a few others.

OK, nice to see random thoughts though

CONGRATULATIONS, you, alone, contributed to the board.
Everybody else, "meh"...
I give up.

The purpose of posting plays is to help others
not everyone can actually cap

You not posting shouldn't be because other cappers dont provide an in depth explanation..
but to each their own buddy! I made some $ off ur NFL plays!
thanks again!
