Duke struggles vs big guys on offense and defense inside the paint this year.... 13 points is a bit much imo. And going against the biggest guy in college clogging up the lane?

Gotta take all the points!

Cashed on central Florida yesterday. It seems like when the big guy is out, they struggle. No tacko means trouble. I’m sure if I can see it, Coach K can see it too. He will get the big guy in foul trouble ASAP. I can see it now. At the under 16 he’ll have two fouls and be on the bench. When they put him back in to stop the bleedin* he’ll pick up another.... it looks as obvious as Derek Jeter hitting an opposite field double to knock in 2 runs just like clockwork.

I am not familiar with this Falls guy but in my experience exceptionally large guys like this absolutely suck. Probably has a Junior high game but is in college solely because he is 7'6".

Guys like that have zero athleticism and will likely be standing under the basket with his hands up as the balls hits him in the head after Zion dunks on him with a running start

UNC Wilmington had a guy like this recently. Its embarrasing

UCF looked great last night, VCU never had a chance easy win there. Tons of value with UCF last night and a great price. Easy pick.

Duke is a strange team this year one minute they seem unstoppable the next they look lost, guess that is just the youth in them. But those youthful guys have unreal talent and can turn it on in the blink of an eye. They seem to be a better 2nd half team as well.

Going to be fun to watch those big guys go at it.

His defense is GREAT, but offensively he only shoots within 3 feet of basket or putbacks... Has one of the highest FG% in college. He is pretty damn athletic defensively and moves well on defense. His offense is a bit stale tho imo.

Under might be a play as well

Duke struggles with skilled big men, but they eat these stiff big guys alive. I think Duke wins by 20+

Good luck either way

UCF Coach played under coach K at Duke... and ALSO coached with Coach K at Duke... Pretty sure he learned a few things about coach K (and vice versa) should be a fun battle on the court and on the coaching side!

Johnny Dawkins:

Johnny Dawkins’ College Career With Duke Blue Devils
Dawkins was one of the best players in Duke history and during his time playing under Coach K, proceeded to become the team’s all-time scoring leader with 2,556 points, per Duke Report. That record stood until JJ Redick topped it during the 2006 season. Dawkins had multiple impressive seasons with the Blue Devils, but his senior year was a memorable one.

Duke posted a 37-3 record during Dawkins’ final year (1985-86), and the guard won the Naismith College Player of the Year Award. The talented group which also featured the likes of Mark Alarie, Dave Henderson, Jay Bilas, Tommy Amaker, and Danny Ferry fell just short of a national title, losing to the Louisville Cardinals in the NCAA Championship Game.

The Blue Devils have retired Dawkins’ No. 24 jersey and after a nine-year NBA career, he returned to the school in 1998 as an assistant under Krzyzewski. He remained at Duke from 1998 to 2008 before accepting the job with Stanford.

Coaching Career of Johnny Dawkins & Overall Record
Over eight seasons at Stanford, Dawkins posted a 156-115 record while making the 2014 NCAA Tournament. His team finished .500 or better in six of those seasons, but he was fired by the school following season No. 8. Almost immediately after, Dawkins was hired as the head coach for Central Florida.

Through the first two seasons with the current coach at the helm, the Knights went 24-12 and 19-13. They enter the final stretch of the 2018-19 season with just six total losses and two games remaining. The school received its first top-25 ranking since 2010-11 and only the second in 35 seasons.

UCF has quickly become a team to monitor and Dawkins has the program trending upwards at an impressive rate. They’ll be worth watching in March Madness both during the 2018-19 season and likely for many years to come beyond that.

Bingo
VCU didn’t have anyone to try and muscle this 10 foot tall string bean around last night. Zion is a different story

I'm excited for this one tomorrow as its the biggest game in UCF basketball history and they have NOTHING to lose.

I expect Duke to win tomorrow.

From a "homer" point of view:

The UCF coach (Dawkins) is a Coach K protege. I dont think Coach K runs up the score on him. Side Note: I found out last nite that Dawkins was Coach K's first ever STUD recruit.

UCF's best 2 players are both seniors. Tacko and BJ Taylor. They were both key players in their NIT final 4 run 2 years ago. Both players were injured for most of last season. Dawkins's son (Mich Transfer) is their 3rd best player and is a junior. I am hoping that UCF's "veteran leadership" will come out vs Duke's freshman (who are WAY more talented).

I like Tacko but i see Zion pushing him around. Zion should be the number 1 overall player in the draft. Tacko declared for the draft 2 years ago and went back into the draft when he found out that he wasnt much of a prospect. Tacko isnt that athletic and I am thinking Duke shows their "muscle" when he is in the game. However, UCF plays well without Tacko as well as he sits a lot during the game. Their offense actually runs better without him (other then the easy dunks).

My hope tomorrow is that Duke gets cold from shooting 3's and UCF "slows down" the game as they are a good defensive team.

I did a small play on the under but i dont plan on counting points during the game (unless Duke is blowing them out)

I'd be surprised if Zion doesn't foul that 7'6" guy out of the game. Might be big but Zion can take a hit and still make them count.

Fall's draft prospects can swing dramatically with this one game, although I'm NOT overly impressed with him. He's not very athletic, and Zion may be able to take advantage of him. He also only plays 24 minutes per game. However, UCF's other center is much more athletic and plays just as much as Tacko. Combined they give UCF a solid post game

UCF's chances of winning depend on their Jr & Sr guards, they have to stay composed and make enough plays to open up the court. Can they do this? IDK, we'll see soon enough

The great Johnny Dawkins?

You don't know who that is?

I know who he is.

I just wasnt sure he was coaching there. I know he was at Duke forever and then went to Stanford
