KLM is expanding its offerings to Costa Rica.
Less than a month after the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) teased new flights from European carriers, the Dutch airline revealed it will offer four flights weekly to Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport in Liberia, Guanacaste, beginning Oct. 29.
KLM has operated a direct Amsterdam-to-San José route since 2017.
According to Casa Presidencial, the routes will continue to be operated with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The timetable is as follows:

  • KL0717 / KL0719 will arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport near San José at 5:15 p.m. local time. That plane will continue to Liberia, with a 7:15 p.m. departure and 8:10 p.m. arrival.
  • The route will then operate nonstop from Liberia to Amsterdam, departing at 9:15 p.m. and arriving at 1:20 p.m. the following day.
  • This route will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
“Tourism is the engine of our economy, and this new connection is a growth opportunity not only for Guanacaste but also for Monteverde and La Fortuna, two regions visited by those who arrive in Costa Rica through Daniel Oduber International Airport,” said President Carlos Alvarado. “We thank KLM for their confidence in us as a sustainable tourism destination, recognized worldwide for its environmental protection efforts.”
